if one reads genesis from the first chapter through the end with an open mind, it is clear that not only is it not true, but that god is potrayed as a cruel, petty, childish micromanaging tyrant.
if one continues reading the ot this is just further solidified.

I am planning on using this every step of the way as we read the bible together. She has already commented on how she never got the animal sacrifice thing. It was so funny when she came home from the CA on Saturday when she asked me - "Don't you love JHVH"? I didn't reply but you can imagine what i wanted to say.

the former home of an insurance company will now be used to store bibles by a christian sect.. jehovah's witnesses have bought 1 elstree way in borehamwood, formerly known as pinnacle place, from cardif pinnacle for 4,928,000.. the building will be used by the international bible students association, a corporation of the jehovah's witnesses which distributes bibles and other religious literature.. the non-profit organisation currently operates out of properties throughout mill hill and borehamwood, with headquarters in the ridgeway in mill hill.. it employs 700 people in printing, storing and distributing religious literature throughout britain, europe and africa.. a spokesman for the jehovahs witnesses said the association had outgrown its existing premises and had bought the large building to consolidate its operations.. it will use the new acquisition to store magazines, pamphlets and bibles as well as making full use of the office space.. however it will continue to maintain its headquarters in mill hill, where the literature is printed.. the sale went through in december and the international bible students association is currently preparing the building so it can move in.. jehovahs witnesses are best known for their door-to-door evangelical work, offering bible literature and recruiting and converting people to their beliefs.. the spokesman for the movement said: we are all about bible education and we print biblical literature to distribute around the world.. the people of borehamwood will probably not notice anything different as we are making no changes to the actual building, which is why we did not need planning permission..
Outlaw - I caught the 'employs' thing too. It really is a shame that they can't use that efficiency thing for something more useful than sending unread literature to the landfill. Perhaps they view it as some sort of composting for the new system (that will be here soon). Maybe their definition of employ = use...

Wow. Great stuff. Especiallly liked this one: There is no doubt that “child sacrifice” is a “revolting practice.” You are operating on a entirely different level. In a good way, of course! I'm not sure what your 'mission statement' is but the material is very original and thought provoking. Are you doing this for yourself or just hoping for a few lightbulb moments from the lurker/uncommitted crowd?

I like (single-malt especially) Scotch too. But I can't afford it anymore. Probably has someting to do with not trying to get ahead/improve myself because the end was so close.
i believe it is mostly guilt.
many witnesses pioneer or "reach out" in the religion because they feel guilty.. they may feel they aren't doing enough.
they may have secretly "sinned" against rules imposed by the organization.
I think we need to realize that there are actually a lot of JW's that have had mostly good experiences in the borg. Why would they want to leave? If nothing has personally touched them negatively, why would they even begin to question anything? On the whole, my experience was actually not that bad (other than the part about distancing myself from non-JW family). Most people are here because something disrupted the flow. Until that happens. they will be like my lovely wife that came home form the CA today with many greetings from 'friends' who were worried about me and was disappointed that I did not want to attend tomorrow.
She mentioned that there was a big emphasis on reading the bible without additional added interpretation. I had to bite me tongue.
so during the serve-us meeting last night an elder says something really dumb..as usual.
it was the km part about doing better in field serve-us.
they are discussing how to reach people, and how to be nice, blah, blah.. the eldub says, "we want to be kind to our neighbors, and talk to them and take an interest.
The embarrassment of having been associated with such an org (for so long) is hard to swallow some times. What makes it worse, is that I never really bought into the whole thing from the beginning, but went along with it for convenience. I wish there was some way I could kick myself in the ass for being so complacent. No one really to blame but myself. I can't even blame WTBATS in my case.What a waste...
back in 1985 my then-wife and i were having a lunchtime "gathering" at our place to show some support to the ones in our congregation who were full-time pioneers.
i had just recently received the vinyl collection of the songs featured in the song book "sing praises to jehovah" which had been released the previous year.. .
many of these melodies sounded depressing to me although i would have never admitted it at the time.
I never should have clicked on this thread... Now for the rest of the weekend while my wife is away at the CA, I will be working in the yard, whistling to the the tune of "Darks days are here". Thanks.

i thought i was feeling better... i quitted the anti depressant a year ago - but now ive started again.
i know the jw isnt the truth- but i feel so very lonely.
If you like animals, try some sort of animal welfare/rescue org. Might meet some nice folks and the critters really do respond - unlike some humans... Being arounf and helping animals in need seems to be good for both parties.
i had never thought about this that much until now.
my wife and i have been living in this community for over 6 years now , and nobody has ever called upon my wife or myself for that matter, to encourage us back to the meetings as jehovahs witnesses , who have become inactive /faded .. the same goes for my son and his wife , who live in the same area , have never been contacted with the intent of trying to re-activate them.. admittedly, only a couple of times in these past 6 years we both my son and i , have had witnesses call upon us in the normal d2d work , without acknowledging if ever they knew we were non practicising witnesses .
hard to beleive since my neice is in the local congregation , and is aware of our former congregations that we attended .. to cap it off , a few of our "freinds" who know where we are have never ever offered any encouragement or support in trying to get us back to their "truth ".
Yesterday, when my wife came back from the meeting, she told me I had 'special' regards from 3 brothers and 1 sister. One of the brothers is an elder. Usually, I just get regards, so I think the 'special' regards is because the CA is next week, and they hope to see me there. Fat chance. I've already wasted most of my life in the borg. I'm not about to give them 2 entire days! I just don't have that many left. I'm already dreading the upcoming memorial. My wife doesn't put any pressure on me to go to meetings anymore, but I'm not sure I can get away with missing this one. At least it is a short service.
