In our little discussion the other day, my wife asked me this question. I told her according to the latest understanding/explanation of the word by the GB, I must be. I highlighted the fact that anyone who even thinks different ideas is now an apostate. Then I got on my soapbox and started talking about the importance of honesty. The conversation actually ended pretty well. I reassured her that I would rather have this type of honest open conversation than not. Prior to that we just avoided it like the plague. Not sure what happens next...

I think my fade has hit a rut. Do I need to grow a pair?
by konceptual99 inso here i am after about 18 months of wake up.
the first 6 months were a rollercoster of feelings as my whole belief system unravelled.
the last year has been more stable but things seem like they are just stalling now.. my wife is aware of many of my feelings although i have held back the fact that i am pretty close to denying all belief in any kind of god.

Tough position to be in especially with the children. I took the approach Besty suggested above and basically said I can't do it anymore. If you aren't honest about this, it is going to eat you alive. You will hate/loathe yourself for being intellectually dishonest. Take a long look at youself in the mirror and ask yourself if you are going to try and be brave and courageous and do the right thing or not?
I haven't been to a meeting or service in several months. Service went first, then fewer and fewer meetings.

Probably they will need some PR agents to act as frontmen. If you make a nice contribution , you get to see him earlier. Not sure why contributions/donations will still be needed in new system, but if we still have to have meetings, then for sure we will have contributions. Could be very competive. Would you rather be agent for Moses or Noah? Lesser skilled agents will get to handle the likes of Josiah and Zedekiah.

Tower of Babel and the Bible's language
by jws inso *if* god wrote the bible (or directed people on what to write), he must have wanted people to read it and follow it.. so why did he confuse the languages at the tower of babel and then have his ot books written in only one of the languages?.
if people couldn't read it, they couldn't follow it.
if they had nothing else to follow, the people inclined to believe in higher powers would have to try to figure that out for themselves and end up with various beliefs.. so god is to blame for any false religion and worship of false gods.

@Smiddy: if Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible, what writing system did he use? Egyptian hieroglyphics? Sumerian cunieform? From what I've read the Hebrew alphabet didn't come into existence until around 1000 BCE and was borrowed from their neighbors. According to the table in back of oldNWT, Moses 'wrote' Genesis in the year 1513(B.C.E). I wonder what system Yahweh used when he 'wrote' the commandments on the stone tablets....

From Proverbs chapter 3:21 NNWT:
My son, do not lose sight of them.* Safeguard practical wisdom and thinking ability;
I told my wife, that means we should learn to think, as opposed to someone else telling us what to think. -

Ha, my hub wants a gift~!
by Angus Beef inhe knows i'm done, he's willing to fade.... out of the blue last night he tells me if i want to buy him a gift, he'd like the bacon bowl maker and the hamburger press (with the hollow center for fillings) so i will be buying him a valentine gift and i'm excited to be able to do it.~.
i'm looking forward to doing lots of things we couldn't do, we may have to secretly do them since we still have family in wt.

Give him a gift. No strings attached. He will be happy, you will be happy. What's wrong with that?

Hard to get here in Poland (unless you are a criminal). You have to join some kind of hunting club and get some training. I will probably just end up with some archery equipment and hopefully a crossbow. But if possible, I would get something. If I was back in the states, absolutely. They should make basic training mandatory, even if you decide not to own a gun. Perhaps a new class in HS? Or even younger. Teach responsibility and safety.

Did he create ticks? I hate them, but maybe it is my problem. Lack of appreciation, I don't know. I'm getting better at accepting them (I have no choice), but still not too high on my favorites list. Maybe they should make a video about cute parasites and their vital role in the circle of life.

next week's bible reading (Gen. 1-5) stumpers.for your "in" family conversations & sly comments.
by prologos inyou may add many, but here are two:.
1) vegetation made on day 3, animals formed day 5,6, but- then.
in gen 2, man seems to be the primary creation, and vegetation and then animals were formed from the dust and brought to him to name them.

@bats: thank for posting that! Typical JW logic. Start with your conclusion and work backwards. Everything must support our conclusion, because our conclusion is true. I need to make a wall-sized poster of that and put it up in my office. And then 'decorate' it a bit with a few cloud comments attached.
