Dunedain - I wonder if this also was part of the reason they specifically allowed Mexican Witnesses to lie about their political affiliation, and avoid jail time, but brothers in Africa had to DIE for their stance. I don't know for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't a monetary reason behind that too.
I'm more inclined to believe there was a monetary reason behind the GB allowing Mexican JWs to freely lie while letting Malawi JWs to freely die.
Think about this: If Mexican JWs were persecuted then they would flee and end up across the border in the US. This would then make it the GBs responsibility and the congregations burden. Every dollar a JW in the US spent on a theocratic refugee would be one less dollar to donate to Watchtower.

Are Witnesses TRULY Honest, Humble and Hungry? (The 3 H's)
by stuckinarut2 inhow many times did we hear the worn out expression "that anyone who accepts the "truth" needs to have the 3 h's".
yes, they must be "honest hearted.
hungry for truth, and humble enough to accept that they need to change".

Honest - The governing body honestly needs your money.
Humble - The governing body is not too proud to demand and accept icecream money from children.
Hungry - The governing body is hungry for more money.

As I mentioned via the above link:
What Watchtower did in Mexico to maintain ownership of the kingdom halls when laws were passed that all religious buildings became state property for the benefit of the community. This did not affect worship but meant Watchtower could never flip the buildings for profit. Watchtower changed the building purpose and then gave the impression they were an education center (building). They also dropped the singing of songs

The Satisfying Decline Of My Old Congregations Donations
by pale.emperor inaccording to the uk charity commission, my old kingdom hall is hemorrhaging money and less is coming in.
long may it continue.. any ideas what a crappy, run down, shack of a kh spends £49,472.87 on in three years?
they were praying for a new hall for about 10 years until bethel basically stole it off them to build warwick.. .

Make a formal written complaint to the Charity Commission that you donated money to the JW hall and that there appears to be a six figure misappropriation of charity funds. You will remain anonymous but they won't.

Why "... when it does touch on scientific matters [the Bible] is accurate" is bogus BS.
by Island Man injws and other christians would often point to the handful of the bible verses that seem to be scientifically accurate as evidence of its divine inspiration.
but not surprisingly, they ignore the ones that are scientifically inaccurate, or when they address those verses they put a spin on it like saying the account is not a reflection of what the bible is teaching but what men at the time erroneously believed and which god allowed them to record in the bible.
would you believe a jw actually told me that!

Nice OP especially considering a reader of the bible cannot get past Genesis chapter 1 without being subjected to scientifically innacurate information.

I Can Get Back Up was a song by the rock band You, Me, And Everyone We Know.
. . .
There was a time when I thought that I would never be
This close with anyone
A leather lesson and the harshest words
I was abused at ten under the hot pacific sun
There was the time I came to your side, it was 3 am
And you were begging me to die
Another year was all it took for you to forget
The best friend that always carried you
So why are you still saying I'm not when I already am?
You keep on kicking me down.
You keep on kicking me down.
Why are you still saying we won't when we already are?
You keep on kicking me down.
You keep on kicking me down. -

ABC News (Australia)
13 June 2017
A national Christian group is lobbying for the Disability Discrimination Act to be changed so that it can discriminate against people with mental illnesses, on the basis they could upset the "sacred" nature of church services.
FamilyVoice has called for a religious exemption to the Act, arguing it interferes with freedom of religion.
In a submission to a federal parliamentary inquiry on freedom of belief, FamilyVoice said a person with a mental illness had the potential to interfere with a church service.
"For very good reasons a religion may not wish to engage a person who has a mental illness and displays disturbed behaviour," the submission read.
"A simple provision should be added for an exemption from the act for persons ... whose conscientious beliefs do not allow them to comply" . . .
If they fail they could always fall back on the teachings of jehovah and the Watchtower who declare that if you go near "mentally diseased" people you could catch their disease and die.
