unreasonable nit-picking by witnesses!
by Richie inhow many of you have had experiences where elders and others in the congregation presented and even pushed their own viewpoints on matters which should be left to each person's own conscience.. we are all aware of the frowns and negative opinions on the way we sometimes dressed; one elder commented on my tie as it was too bright - i once bought a pretty ornament which had a pyramid shape, afterwards a sister said that i should not have this in my house (she did not know precisely why...but sort of felt it was wrong!).
we got a few frowns when we had a wind chime, but at least there we did some research on and told the individual to mind his own business.. how many of you know the "demon inspired" proctor & gamble sign, which prompted many witnesses to abstain from purchasing any p & g products.
how silly!

gettogethers disguised as X-mas parties...?
by Richie inwhen you were a jw, how many of you actually went to a gathering of some sorts, which could have been called a disguised x-mas- or new years eve party among witnesses?
we always had parties and large dinners with them during this time, as a lot of witnesses were somewhat despondent or lonely because of the festivities going on in the "world".... appreciate your thoughts about this!.

did any of you read the entire bible once...?
by Richie injust wanted to know if any of you have read the entire bible?
- i remember that it was mentioned in the congregation many times that this would be a requirement that we were to read the bible in its totality at least once and especially as elders!.
i myself never had the time (or energy) to read the scriptures from cover to cover.

a love so hypocritical ........
by Richie ini am curious to find out how many of you have experienced this: when there is a sickness in the family, there are very few witnesses who really deeply care from the heart, unless of course the person who is ill is very strong in the truth, has many hours in fieldservice, attends the meetings without interrruption or is a aux.- or regular pioneer.
yet, witnesses who are not as strong in the truth will be visited less or more likely not at all.
for instance, i hear of so many instances where a sick person had to go to the hospital and everybody in the congregation would know that, yet the only ones showing real care were their immediate family members who manifested enough natural compassion and love to visit these ones.

serving God for selfish motives
by Richie init's always so heartwarming to receive all your answers and comments in this forum which allows me to put things into proper perspective in that i have returned to a sensible life where i can show real unobstructed love and care to my "worldly" friends now instead of those who only love you conditionally.
if you stay in line with what the borg does and teaches, then all will love you, if not then they'll shun you and the love stops, no matter how long it takes, yes even a lifetime of hurt and shunning.
what is the society trying to prove - of course i know very well that it's purely a matter of control over you otherwise half of all the witnesses in the world would leave the organization!.

Shunning is worse than the worst crime possible
by Richie ini have come to the conclusion that the shunning practices of the jw's are in fact worse than the worst crime committed.
just imagine, your own daughter shunning you, not wanting to see me or her first son (my grandson).
whenever i walk around in the village i live and i happen to encounter jw's, they don't even acknowledge that i exist at all!!.

one more reason to loathe the Society
by Richie intoday i called my daughter who has a 16 month-old son, so see how she is doing etc and at the same time was asking if i could see her and my grandson tomorrow afternoon... she said "why do you want to see us.., don't you know that you're disfellowshipped..you should know better".... well i told her incidentally that i am her father and a grandfather to her son, she responded by saying again that i am df'd and i am not going to the meetings anymore etc etc etc..... i started arguing with her that this was not right and then in the middle of the heated conversation i decided to just hang up on her as i had enough of this abhorrent mindset which is so similar to the bodysnatchers' mentality.... by the way, i was df'd 1 1/2 years ago for the reason that i stopped attending meetings..... i am cut to the heart, but then again after looking inside of me, i am a free man and not involved anymore with an unnatural lifestyle reserved for zombies.... :*) richie.

mindset is the same as hellfire doctrine...
by Richie injust an observation; when a witness decides to write the congregation that he or she does not want to be associated anymore for personal reasons, why is it that this person must be disfellowshipped?
or why is it that if someone makes an issue about a wrong in the congregation such as pedophilia, and this witness decides to officially warn the elders about this wrongdoing or suggest to contact the police, that this person must be disfellowshipped?.
get my drift???.

JW's are very similar to Pharisees!!
by Richie inafter reading the book "crisis of conscience", i have now more than ever convinced that the jw's org is extremely similar to how the pharisees were "ruling" immediately prior to jesus' days on the earth.. this book is written in a completely unbiased fashion yet showing all the facts and irregularities being perpretrated from the top hierarchy.
it was portrayed by raymond franz in a extremely balanced manner for which i thank him profusely!!
any comments would be welcome!!.
