Just one day in the life of a 14 year old boy
by Stealth init was just one single day in the life a 14 year old boy, yet i can remember it just as if it was yesterday.. i had started working my very first part-time job attending gasoline pumps at a small service station.
i began this day with much anticipation, yet at the time not realizing that this one single day would prove to make such a lasting impression on my memory.
as i pumped gas for customers (remember when they did that), from my outdoor one room shack about the mid part of the day i noticed the sky began to darken.

mindset is the same as hellfire doctrine...
by Richie injust an observation; when a witness decides to write the congregation that he or she does not want to be associated anymore for personal reasons, why is it that this person must be disfellowshipped?
or why is it that if someone makes an issue about a wrong in the congregation such as pedophilia, and this witness decides to officially warn the elders about this wrongdoing or suggest to contact the police, that this person must be disfellowshipped?.
get my drift???.

JW's are very similar to Pharisees!!
by Richie inafter reading the book "crisis of conscience", i have now more than ever convinced that the jw's org is extremely similar to how the pharisees were "ruling" immediately prior to jesus' days on the earth.. this book is written in a completely unbiased fashion yet showing all the facts and irregularities being perpretrated from the top hierarchy.
it was portrayed by raymond franz in a extremely balanced manner for which i thank him profusely!!
any comments would be welcome!!.

Rookie on the Field
by peacepipe ini've been reading this forum page for about a year.
at first i thought it was a meeting place for practicing jw's but after reading many posts found that most people here have been hurt or don't see things eye to eye with the wt org.
i am not a jw but i have been associating with them for about 3 yrs.

Food at Proper Time:Insider's Insight from Barbara
by Maximus inbarbara anderson's attention was called to the thread about the differences in policy of great britain and the us regarding child abuse; as you know she has championed a change in that policy.
another post caught her eye, and she expressed the desire to share some thoughts with you.
i'm delighted to share her first post, which i know you will find riveting.

how WT directions can destroy lives
by Richie init is true that many persons have been disfellowshipped wrongly, but what is more disturbing is how a person's life could be so totally destroyed.
this reminds me of an incident that happened some years ago where a sister was disfellowshipped for this reason:.
she found out that her witness husband had been having sex with an animal.

Reflecting on real love
by Richie inreflecting back on the moments in the past when i was doing everything i could to please god in accordance with the society's standards and whatever my family and i did it was never really good enough - at least that's how i always felt: doing better the next time but inside of me a feeling of guilt and part-accomplishment and this happened on a constant basis even when i was serving as an elder.. after i was disfellowshipped i went back a couple of times; in fact i was disfellowshipped in my old congregation, but i started to go back later on to a different congregation in another kingdom hall (which i used to attend)where my daughter with her husband also attend.. there were in total 2 brothers who were happy to see me; one brother poked me softly in the back confirming his happiness that i came to visit the congregation, and a second brother gave me the thumbs up (ignoring the stern gaze of an elder) when i left the hall at the close of the meeting.
i must admit that these tiny acknowledgments of love and concern toward me were unexpected but they were nevertheless very much appreciated!
it showed a measure of respect that's due to a human and much more so due to a longstanding friend of many years before.

What a pretty summer so far!
by Bendrr ini don't know how the weather is everywhere else, but here in dixie, it's been the first bearable summer in as long as i can remember.. it seems as though mother nature took a rest this year, worn out from her years of relentlessly bombarding us with intense heat.
for so long, it seemed as though the spring and summer months, even october, would bring an onslaught of 100+ degree temperatures with record high humidity and only enough rain to turn our evenings into saunas.. then this year came.
so far, the temperature has topped out in the very low 90's and the humidity just hasn't had the enthusiasm of years past.
