How do you feel about Social Media?

i personally hate it!

i've tried for years to find a way to enjoy it, but i do not.

i tried.. at the end of the day i feel its just people getting there ego stroked and miss-information.

At the end of the day I feel its just people getting there ego stroked and miss-information. All while literally handing over our data and lives to the scum of the earth. Allowing ourselves to be manipulated. Living in self contained echo chambers.

I find it beyond sad that when someone creates a FB group, they suddenly feel as if it belongs to them. Like they are special. News flash, its free, you are not special. People are the product along with their so called groupies. I can't/won't take FB groups seriously.

Why don't those people that have FREE FB groups they started create and actual web page? It doesn't cost that much to have a website. Then one could actually make some extra cash possibly, without begging for it on FB. A free service that people think somehow belongs to them.

That's my rant about it. How do you feel about social media?

I love them. I cant wait to have one or more.

I dated this gal way back and her parents were loaded. I walked into the fanciest house I'd ever been into and she took me to her dads "playroom". Inside was a train set encompassing almost the entire room with mountains, towns, villages , city's, people, animals, ect. She must have known how Id act, idk. She said I could play with it all. She shut the door and I have no idea how long I stayed in there. I was abruptly stunned by this tall male figure in the door way grinning. See, I had tied up one of the people and was trying to run over it with the train. I turned all kinds of red. Her dad came over and said "I do that all the time".

I'd like to say I'm above doing that now if I had an indoor set but I cant because I know I would.

I'd love to have a small mini train that runs all the way around my property. Rides for kids. That would be so much fun. Later in the future perhaps.

we were supposed to be dedicated unconditionally to jehovah god.

we were willing to be persecuted to the death if need be.

if it came to taking a blood transfusion or dying, we were loyal to jehovah and would be a martyr for god.

My mother did. She was dead for several hours while trying to give birth to me. They got me out (C section). Since they refused a transfusion the doctor wouldn't operate, so they rushed her to the nearest hospital that would two hours or so away. She died in the ambulance with me in her. Got to the other hospital, got me out. Somehow they managed to resuscitate her. She was in a coma for days after.

As for me, I never carried that stupid ass no-blood card. I would have taken a transfusion. So long as the elders didn't step in.

And as far as dying for jefuckho. Yeah, probably at one point I may have felt like that. Inside I knew if push came to shove that, like if the ( eyeroll ) government came and ask me to denounce my faith I had already decided that I would denounce on the outside but believe on the inside. I always thought that to be the most retarded ass rule ever. I felt (god) could read my heart anyway, and if he/she/it/ thang couldn't then it wasn't real anyway. Thats how I justified my thinking a the time. "A conscience matter". I tossed that phrase around so freely it pissed off many elders on many topics.

The mental gymnastics most ALL jws have to do is messed up. I would have taken a bullet for some of the brothers back then out of what I thought to be brother hood. Vomit!

i'm going to be the first and throw this out there for others but, from careful study of the scriptures i've found a loophole that even adam who was perfect at the time missed!

i'm sure everyone has heard the conundrum about ,"can god create a rock he can't lift?

" and if he can't create one he can't lift, then god cannot do everything" well that doesn't really matter since we know jehovah says himself he cannot lie right?

@Cofty-Finding evidence for human activity older than 6,000 years is a regular occurrence for archaeologists.

Archaeology is one of my passions. I did so many independent archaeological studies in college and happily gave them to the university. / Had to stop there, got excited a bit. Is it you that finds things on your land with the metal detector? I've been meaning to ask or just look in past threads.

i am actually not a 'sky is falling' guy, but i wanted to comment on the australian bushfires.. you may or may not believe the science behind global warming, however i personally put more faith in verified, scientific data than the words of fat cat, self-serving politicians.

climate science has predicted, based on data, that we will see more prolonged, extreme weather events, higher average temperatures, rising sea levels due to ocean expansion and glacial melting.

and this is exactly whats happening.

I don't understand why people say "climate change" is a 'hoax'. The earth has had drastic "Climate changes" over and over and over and over and over again. If you don't think it will/is happening then please go back to the watchtower where you can believe that the earth was created for humans to live forever on.

This has nothing to do with Greta T, and why her name was brought up is retarded.

The issue to me is, or question rather. Do humans think that they will cause it? Or, are causing it? And just precisely how is that propaganda being forced down our throats. As if we could stop it, (global warming,climate change) from happening. Did the Continents peacefully slide apart 1000's and 1000's of years ago? Like some "lazy river ride" at a water park? Get real!

Lets just recycle and stop using fossil fuels to "turn our planet around". Ahh, peace at last. Then BOOM! A meteor strikes earth. Or a super volcano explodes taking most of life out...ect ect...

BTW, the earth itself splits open and dumps oil in the ocean naturally and has done so for thousands of years. I could go on, but wont as the OP is living in a nightmarish condition and emotions are running high. As to be expected.

Seems like it would happen eventually even if we were all banging rocks on the ground for fire and living in huts.

Its beyond devastating whats happening in Australia. It sucks that the phrase "climate change" is so triggering for people. So much so that it drowns out a post from someone living in a virtual nightmare. Be safe and take care of yourself.

', or similar).. but, i'd just like to start a thread about certain songs giving me goosebumps.

y'know, when you hear a song that profoundly effects you in some difficult-to-describe way and the hairs on your arm stand on end even though the room temperature's comfortably warm.. so, which songs give you goosebumps?.

RubaDub- 'Children' by Robert Miles is definitely a goosebump song. As soon as I saw the picture I got goosebumps. Unfortunately for me, it also makes me cry or sob rather. So I don't listen to it anymore.

Here's a few of my goosebump songs. I will say that, that Robert Miles, Children song probably is #1 or near it, in the goosebump category. Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Dead Can Dance are right up there for me, depending on the song.

My BPD Sister Passed Away

i have started this, then restarted it, and it still sucks to even write this out - but my younger sister passed away unexpectedly last saturday (on my birthday).

i am going through all the grieving emotions, but there is more to the story that i could never and would never talk about to anyone that didn't understand the jw rhetoric.

so...here i am.. my sister has had borderline personality disorder (bpd) for as long as i can remember.

I just wanted to say that I am very sorry that you are going though this. There are sometimes I want to reach in the screen somehow and give someone a hug. This is definitely one of those times. One min, day, hour at a time to process.

If it helps somehow, the man who mostly raised me, married to a jw (phyco) died this year days after my pet of 14 years died. He was very abusive. I actually managed to think of some old funny memories of him and times I knew he was "trying". It helped some. Mostly I just really feel detached or numb. Not really anything left to feel about it/him.

About her death being on your Birthday. That sucks! I would make a note of that now, for next year as a potential trigger.

Is it possible to nullify a baptism?

i was wondering within the organisation if there are any guidelines or grounds for nullifying a baptism.

see i grew up a jehovah's witness and was baptised at age 13, i didn't get baptised for the right reasons, i felt pressured to because my friends were getting baptised at the same time.

I cant remember the year I want to say 2007-2010 maybe. There was an article in one of the 'magazines' that said that one could. I asked a younger elder about it and was told 'yes'.He said there was a "sister" in a cong on the other side of town that did just that. Overheard by a much older elder who said 'perhaps' and then told the younger elder to not have such discussions. I asked to merely see the responses I'd get.

So yes, it could be done. The "Sheparding book" would probably be the go to though.The one Dubfounded_12 put in the comment. Not that mag I read. It was way more loose.

To go thru all that to be still severely marked to the point that its still shunning. Them waiting with baited breath for you to be baptized "for real". In the meantime your weak, shunned, and still treated as if you'd die at the big A anyway. What a headache.

You could always try so you know.

@Midwichcukoo- Babies get baptized all the time in other religions. It would not get far in court. I agree its damaging, to put it mildly.

Latest Circuit Assembly Money Assault!

probably not new to many of you but i'm gonna post it anyway!.

i went to a circuit assembly last week at the fremont, ca assembly hall in fremont, ca to be with my wife so she could be there to 'witness' the baptism of a person she "studied" with about 2 decades ago!.

at the main entry to the assembly hall there are 3 or 4 large double door entrances.

@rubadub- I could easily see the online site with two sides, one for the public (free) and one with the "deeper truths" for a monthly fee (let's say 3-5 dollars). All publishers would be expected to have the premium service.

I expect this to happen. The ones that cant afford it will get sent screen shots sent to them by the ones who can. Or copies printed off. Great way to pile on extra guilt and ensure people do pay for the "deeper truths". That would be such a win win for the borg. Jws wouldn't want to miss out. I don't think it would even raise eyebrows, sadly. It seems primed and ready for that scenario already with there being "watchtower lite".

@Biahi-even worse, she said that JW children who are molested will have the memory of this trauma wiped out after Armageddon, and worldly kids will be killed anyway.

Annnd....thats how they handled it when I was one of those kids. Wild.
