  i heard it myself from a friend!

  scientists from all over the world are reporting unprecedented increases in vulture population - armageddon must be near!!!!!!!

  All I can say is that it's about time that the vulture population is increasing. After all, many sub-species of vultures have been endangered for a very long time. It looks as if the captive breeding programs are beginning to pay off.

  And part of the credit can go to those two homosexual vulture partners, Roy and Oliver (names changed to protect their true identities), who have been used in the captive breeding program to nurture eggs and chicks so that the breeding pair can produce more eggs.

  Imagine....Jehovah's purpose, ala Brooklyn, is being accomplished by several gay vultures. Who woudda thunk it?

  the religion is known as the watchtower bible and tract society, otherwise known as jehovah's witnesses.

  an emergency meeting has been called by jack dowson at london bethel.

  all co's and do's were recalled yesterday and are meeting at 2pm today in bethel (most have left the visiting congregations in limbo.

  the meeting is today(starts at 2pm), tomorrow and finishing on friday at 12 noon.

  Why are all angels in JW publications male?

  why are all angels in jw publications male?

  i was thinking about this today, as i notice other christian religions show angels as male and female.

  do you think that this was another way of showing how males were superior to females in their teaching, or that their god "jehovah" was more favorable to the male appearance.

  Tartarus....ah, yes. I like it, but it can sometimes be overdone. My husband always asks for extra whenever he gets fish and chips at the local restaurant. Personally, I think that too much of the stuff just hides the flavor of the fish.

  Oh, well....to each his own.

  one of the things the congregation secretary has to do is tabulate field service reports.

  i always loved it when i would get a report that had an enormous amount of hours and placements.,especially if the person never was seen in the ministry.

  i knew a lot of "phantom pioneers".

  No, I didn't. I was an idiot. I pioneered when the quota was 100 hours a month, and, believe me, it was tough trying to get that amount of time in in addition to working parttime and attending all the meetings.

  I paid for it by ending up in the hospital for a month and nearly destroying my health permanently.

  Inactive.....but curious....

  i was just thinking after reading some of the posts, and wanted to ask you something..... do any of you feel, and i mean right in the back of your minds, that jws might still have the true faith (truth).

  i've been inactive for a few years now and don't attend meetings at the kh, apart from the memorial, and occasional convention.

  please don't shout me down, its just that to me, even though i've been out for a while and my reasons for "drifting" away were very painful to me, i don't feel as the majority do here.

  I spent a good many years inactive, but still believing that the JWs had the truth. It wasn't until I got on the Internet and began learning about the deceptive manner in which doctrines are presented by the WTBTS that I realized tha what was being taught was just about as far from the truth as you can get.

  It takes time to get over the mind control. After all, the Society is good at it. Keep posting. Keep reading, and by all means keep an open mind and really THINK about points that are brought out. This is something that we were NOT encouraged to do as active JWs, and it takes a little getting used to.

  Everyone progresses at their own pace.

  Patriarchal, egocentric society. The Bible writers were male, so they portrayed every position of importance as belonging to a male.

  this came up on another thread.. can you be disfellowshipped for french kissing?

  if so, was that always policy?

  does that apply to married couples or just singles?

  I don't think so...otherwise, that elder's son who couldn't keep his hands (or tongue) to himself on our first (and only) date would have been in BIG trouble.

  Similar religions to JW

  ok everyone....i have noticed that there are a few other religions out there similar to the jw's.....for example...i have a friend who has a sister that who belongs to a non-denominational christian church.....she feels that her church is the "only way" to god...and also too it seems as though she looks down on anyone who does not go to her church....they have weekly bible studies on monday or tuesday nights...they even have a "field service" in which they go out to neighbors trying to get them to come to that particular church....does anyone else out there know about the other ones similar to the jw?

  One that I learned about not too long ago is the International Church of Christ, which was originally based in Boston.

  A co-worker had been approached by a couple active in this church, and from her initial description, I thought she was getting involved with JWs. They conduct Bible studies in-house with interested people, they proselytize whenever and wherever they are, they have multiple meetings at their church. They also have similar beliefs about judicial proceedings within the group, and they disfellowship errant members.

  Additionally, they believe that they are the "one, true religion", and they now have support groups on the internet for former members trying to break free, and safe houses set up for those who are trying to get away, but who are being harrassed by family members or officials of the church.
