Being a Socially Inept ex-JW
by LaurenM inso i'm absolutely clueless concerning relationships.
i had barely any friends at all growing up a jw kid & absolutely no interaction with "worldly" people or any guys whatsoever.
i have had a relationship of sorts with a guy for 4.5 months now, but i'm so clueless!

Depression, Anger and Anxiety
by Sorry infor the last few months, i feel like i've been going through the 5 stages of grief.
lately, it's been happening simultaneously.
in my other posts, i've expressed anger at my family and congregation for their thoughtless ways.

Thank you for helping me through the bad days
by doubtfull1799 ini'm sure that whatever stage we are at with our journey in leaving the corporation disguised as a religion, aka the watchtower bible & tract society, we have good days and bad days.
maybe young ones who have managed to escape mentally do not suffer quite as much, or suffer in different ways, but after 40 years of indoctrination, what i now like to call the "machinery of reinforcement" it is unavoidable that you don't have days where your head is messed with.
yesterday was just such a day for me.

Simon's "Evil" Apostate site vs. JWTalk.com
by Funchback ini stumbled across jwtalk.com recently and i wasn't able to read many things posted there because i wasn't a member.
so, i decided to join (it's free).
i am not interested in re-becoming a jw.

The battle lines are being drawn
by hillfy333 inwith the new rc conventions making their rounds, much has been leaked in regards to their loyalty videos.
disturbing is the ramping up of hatred and shunning towards those who have faded, especially if such ones according to the watchtower are living in sin, but have not been found guilty as yet by the judicial process.
certainly of the criteria of guilt, is talking against the gb, which i personally come under.

At a certain point in time.....
by Giordano inat a certain point in time, i am sad to say, being a jw may have been my whole life.
i knew myself by what others said about me.
i was called brother by hundreds, and it sounded right.

Indoctrination and subordination
by Tornintwo inthere are so many gems in in search of christian freedom but i thought this section in 'indoctrination and subordination' was excellent, summing things up brilliantly, worth highlighting for anyone who hasn't read the book;.
"the sum of the evidence is, then, that although no extreme physical isolation occurs, a very effective mental isolation is pro- duced by the organizations interpretation placed on jesus words about not being part of the world.
the community of believers becomes quite insulated and intellectually sealed off from any source of scriptural material other than that coming from the one voice, that of the organization.

Similar but not the same
by Deleteandrestart inafter watching ceders you tube video on muslim and jw shunning, i thought i'd look at some other ex religious you tubers, so i looked at the mormon ones, .
theres a lot of them but what struck me was the very similar mindsets and the way the internet made them start to question from a critical thinking point of view their own faith , it was just like another brand of the exact same thing and these people were experiencing the same thoughts as we get when we start to leave/question the "truth ",.
the main difference seems t be that jw shunning is totally merciless and never ending, and no real forgiveness takes place unless you cave in .
