You'd be a lot better off attending a Good Friday service and then Easter morning. You actually, like, get to participate and understand the real meaning of Jesus' death and resurrection instead of the WTS version of "celebrating" Michael the archangel's demise.
I wouldn't set foot in a KH ever again. Brrr, the thought of it makes my skin crawl.
i stumbled upon this web site...it may bring back memories for those who spent time at bethel and it is very revealing to those of us who never visited or lived there.

the link above is the main site.. the link below is the bethel visit...lots of pics.
My favorite?
"Click here to add our Theocratic Vacation Page to your favorites."
and
"We have also put together a web site of a couple of our non-theocratic vacations to Cozumel, Mexico.
If you would like read of our adventures there just click here. "
Do you think they'll get a shepherding call about taking non-theocratic vacations??
Pfffttt.
throughout the years after having come to know through your marriage to my daughter you have been a very kind and thoughtful person, sometimes more than my own son.
i don't think that a mother-in-law could want a finer person for a son than you.
however, it is very unfortunate that i will have to change the way that i will relate to you now and in the future.
But I will not be able to socialize with you nor eat with you again. Your co-operation in this will certainly be appreciated.
Aack! She wants your cooperation in this?
I want some of what she's smoking.
PFFFTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so sorry. I'd keep the kids away from her too. They shouldn't learn that something like this is right or acceptable.
christians are preparing to enter lent.
and of course, with lent comes fasting.
orthodox christians recognize five levels of fasting:abstaining from meat (starting tomorrow at sun down) abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, and cheese abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, and fish abstaining from meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, fish, oil, and wine abstaining from all foods and beverages except bread, water, juices, honey, and nuts.
LOL@Beryl!
i grew up in the religion and was baptized at.............supposedly the most important day in our lives and i cannot remember how old i actually was, anyways...... i believe it was 13 or 14. i was never disfellowshipped.
i have a "worldly" boyfriend whom i love dearly, and i no longer attend the "meetings".
i do not disagree with the organization entirely; in fact i am not even sure if i disagree with it at all.
Here is the key:
This board can be educational if you have an open mind, and you will learn a lot that you may not have known.
We're sure glad you are here. No one here really bashes Jehovah's Witnesses. On the contrary we love them, we almost ALL of us have family that are witnesses, we WERE witnesses once, and feel they are wonderful people if perhaps a little misled by some "new light," "tacking into the wind," "waiting on Jehovah," among other things. Many of us who lived through the "Millions now living will never die" era are understandably upset.
I was born and raised a JW and am in my 40's now. Did you know, my mother ( a witness, now deceased, she never thought she'd die in this system) she told me once that in the 1940's young witnesses were counseled not to get married nor raise children in this wicked system, since it was so soon to be destroyed? She told me of an assembly where men were advised to wait until the new system to get married, because women in the new system would be so beautiful whereas women in this old system were nothing but "bags of bones and hanks of hair."
Most of us have problems with the concept of a "faithful and discreet slave class." We see fundamental flaws in their claim to be God's sole channel, and therefore everything they say is subject to intense scrutiny, as the Bible says we should scrutinize those who would speak for Him.
Welcome, stick around, and kudos to you for trying to figure this out before you have children.
Hugs, V

In my church (Episcopal) one year the priest sermoned on Lent, not as a chance to "give something up" but a chance to "take something on."
You don't have to fast or deny yourself something. You can take on a new project -- volunteering to help deliver meals to elderly, helping children's literacy program at the library, or even learn something new for yourself... study a new language, read a great classic you've never read, stuff like that.
Sounded good to me!
thank you guys...all your posts are very much helping me to see where i need to get to personally in order to have any hope for my marriage.
i did not get the truth until i met hubby at 20 yrs old.
he grew up, fell away, and came back with me...(he witnessed to me).
Do I have this right... hubby doesn't attend meetings anymore but he still believes it's "the truth(TM)"??
He keeps saying now that "you might as well go out in the world and DO ANYTHING cuz your'e dead at Armaggedon
He needs to be deprogrammed. .
Can you get him to read Crisis of Conscience?
I was raised in "the lie" and I have a built a perfectly fine life away from that horrible organization. So there's hope.
my first post diappeared so here's another try:.
this is actually more than one question.
but let me first explain my own experience: .
I was only 14 and did it because it was expected of me. My mother had me quite cowed.
I didn't feel anything but depressed. Someone gave me a stick of Juicy Fruit gum. To this day I literally get quite ill if I even SMELL someone ELSE chewing Juicy Fruit gum.
Then my parents took me to Wendy's [insert sad smiley here, can't insert smileys from my work PC].
i have been involved with a girl who is of the jw faith; although things have pretty much ended between us... due to her being disfellowshipped for the way we acted together (although she has recently been accepted back).. she did make me think about things... and consider her religion.
however, i think i have come to my senses.... a few things about the religion seem wrong to me... the whole watchtower thing (false prophet), being baptised into the organisation, the subject of blood and the little evidence they seem to have to back this up, the 'new light' etc.. i would really like more information to present to this girl in order to:.
1) show her that it really is not right for me; with good/ unquestionable reasons why;.
The only way to reach JW's is through their own literature. They won't read anything anti-JW, they think it's apostate and from Satan.
Try www.quotes.jehovahswitnesses.com.
This website contains nothing but quotes from their own propaganda literature. Read through it and see all the flip-flops. Your path will become clear.
Good luck...!
