Nice Guys Vs. Jerks.

i'll tell you guys something, being nice doesn't get you anywhere in this world.

being nice gets your heart broken, gets you walked all over, and taken advantage of.

whenever someone sees you as a nice guy, they'll see you as a person they can take advantage of, and you'll let them because you're nice..

I myself was always attracted to the sweet quiet guys, but I have noticed that a lot of women are attracted to jerks. For instance, two of my good friends have both put up with so much crap from their boyfriends. Every time they get cheated on, they swear they won't take the guy back, and next thing you know, BOOM! their back together. This goes on and on, and they keep taking it! They seem to focus on the very few "good times" and forget about all the bad times. A guy friend of mine is the same way. His girl friend (ex at the moment ) has broken their engagement atleast 4 times, and goes out with other guys, yet he always wants her back. I just don't get it. They seem to get off on the abuse. Or worse, they think they deserve it.

So it does seem to be true, girls ( and sometimes guys ) prefer jerks. Sad, but seems to be true. But for all those nice guys out there, don't think you need to be a jerk to get a girl, there still are many women who prefer the good guys. You just have to search for them!

When you stated that you used to wish your grandmother would die so she could be in the new system, it brought back memories for me. Two of the most wonderful people in the world are my grammie and grampa, yet growing up I was made to believe that they would be destroyed.I was so conflicted in my feelings, did I want them to die now, and then be with them forever in the paradise, or just take what I could get until Armageddon? Certainly not any thing a child should have to worry about. Part of the reason I left JW's was because of teachings like this. If the JW god would destroy two people who were the kindest people any where, then I wanted nothing to do with him.

HEART MURMUR !

just found out that i have a heart murmur !

going for an echogram soon.now i have anxiety!

what do you know about heart murmurs,anyone have it now .i read up on it ,but,still have anxiety about it.i appreciate any infomation that will help me to calm down.

Don't worry yourself over it. Most heart murmurs are harmless. Hopefully yours falls in this catagory. I have had a heart murmur since birth, as have my brother and step sister. Sometimes my sis and brother have to take medicine ( like Amoxycillon ) before seeing the dentist, but that's about it. When I was pregnant with my first son, I had to have a doplar done on my heart ( at that point I had 2 heart murmurs ) to make sure the stress of childbirth wouldn't bother me, and they found it wouldn't. So don't stress yourself over it ( after all, anxiety can't be good for your heart! ), you will probably be just fine.

What JWs are passing out in response to Silentlamb

i was outraged when i read what a friend of ours was given him by 2 jws yesterday when he asked them the question about the child molestation issue.

i can't belive the jws have the guts to pass this stuff out.

the people we were with at lunch today all looked at it and was replused at the wt's reply.. what do you think?.

What bothers me is the statement " Anyone in a responsible position who is guilty of child abuse would be removed from his responsibility without hesitation."

So pedophiles always tell the truth? Say a child claims her father molests her, and he denies it, and there are no other eye witnesses ( why would there be? ), then according to the elders, he's not guilty right? So he gets to keep being an elder or MS or whatever. Accordng to whom is he deemed guilty? If it goes to court, and the court finds him guilty, then do the elders make him step down from his position? Even if they found him not guilty? Does any one know the answer? Just curious. It all maks me ill.

Is politeness out of style?

many years ago people seemed more polite to woman, by tipping their hats or holding a door open to let them in.

even in busses, men gave their places if a woman was standing.

does a person look stupid if he is too polite today compared to years ago?.

I wholeheartedly agree with Big Tex. I am polite because that's how I chose to be, and it's the right way to be. If people choose not to appreciate polite behaviour, that's their choice. I don't let it get to me.

I work at a customer service desk at a Supermarket. For me, being polite and going out of your way to please a customer is what it's all about. I don't think this generatin is any worse than any other. I can't tell you how many older people come in with a horrible attitude, yelling and swearing when they don't get what they want. So many people act as if the world owes them something. Years ago people had to wait patientlyfor things, whether it be at a restaraunt or retail store. Nowadays, with fast food and better technology, people expect things right then and there.And if they don't get it, watch out!

For me personally, when I see impolite and rude people, I feel really sorry for them. How sad a life they must lead if they have to nit pick every little detail, and be rude to their neighbor. I choose to be happy, not sweat the small things, and always have a smile on my face ( ok, I try atleast! ).

I saw a JW Elder at X-Men 2 Movie this weekend!!

i nearly fell off my seat.

this 30ish jw elder came strolling in the movie theater with his wife and a huge tub of pop corn in his arm to watch x-men 2: xmen united.

i couldn't believe the hypocrasy.........they teach not to even watch much tv, much less go to a movie.

It used to make me really angry when I would hear about another jw seing a rated R movie. Here I was trying so hard to live up to the JW rules and regulations, and yet certain ones would have no problem with it! And when these certain people saw these movies, but seemed to be so self righteous in other areas it burned me up!

Blondie, it was interesting to hear your story about your husband being told to look for rated R movies. When a couple brothers came to talk to me about three years ago, I later heard that one of them made a comment about me having rated R videos in plain view. First of all I thought what a prick, looking at my videos, standing in judgement over me. Then I started to chuckle, because thing is, I didn't even have any rated R movies in my collection! I didn't even watch rated R movies til I was well ut the JW door! Guess it was just his way of making it look like I was terrible association or something.

Funny, some of the movies that are my elder brother in law favorites, are rated R. This is because he hails from England, and some of the movies that are rated 15 over there, are rated R here.Two movies that come to mind are "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" and "Good Morning Vietnam", both rated R in America, but only 15 in England.America seems to be a little stricter when it comes to nudity or language. I got he and my sister to watch "Amelie", which for the life of me I can't see why it hs to be R and not PG-13, and they loved it. Go figure.

when a girl reaches the age of puberty or physical maturity, her body has developed in the matter of sex more than in the mind.

and here I thought growing up under the Watchtower regime was tough in the 70's and 80's! It's real nice being compared to a cow by the way!

Oh, and for those who aren't aware, cows do have horns, it's just that most farmers have them cut down. ( I lived on a farm as a child and I remember this ).

i have always loved perfumes and oils and i have quite a collection that i use as the mood strikes...but i am getting low on many of them and it is time to think about making that birthday gift list sooooooo... what do you wear and what do you like and why?.

my all-time innocent favorite is muguet des bois(lily of the valley)--reminds me of my youth and a cousin who gave it to me as a gift who is passed now.... but i also love the scent of lilac, usually in an oil.. my favorite perfumes are: obsession, rare rubies(avon), coty wild musk, revlon's fire and ice, white shoulders, sand and sable, ck's truth, (and also mesmerize, odyssey, foxfire, jasmine, raining violets, honeysuckle, lemon velvet, hawaiian white ginger--all old classic avon you can only find at flea markets or once a year in the book.).

but i need something new....i like the oriental/spicy blends, but not for all the time.

Kingdom Hall Spankings

most meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.

often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.

people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.

So many sad stories of abuse.

I worked very hard to behave as a child, because I did not want to be spanked! My mom used to make paddles that were wide at the top, and then had a handle on the bottom. She would paint ( very beautifully mind you ) a scripture about sparing the rod spoiling the child on it. She would use this paddle to spank us if we were bad. She even made some of these wooden paddles for her friends!!! There was even a hole on the handle so you could hang it on the wall when not in use, lol!!!

I used to get dirty looks all the time from overly righteous people when I wouldn't spank my kids at the meetings.I would spend most of the time in the babycare room, and let them play on the floor there ( of course I got dirty looks for that too ). I hated seeing little children sitting perfectly still in their seats, not because they were interested in what was being taught, but because they were frozen in fear of getting a beating if they moved a muscle. Makes me angry to this day!
