hi guys - new poster here.
i was brought up a jw in the uk and stopped going not long after i was married.
that was 20 years ago so i'm not really up to date with the current doctrinal flip flops or the new youtube obsessed gb.. came across this site while googling the name of a local elder who's just been convicted of possesion of a pc full of unpleasant pics of kids.. so, my question.
I seem to have acquired my very own internet stalker.
Kewl :)
does anyone know the present members of the british branch committee?.
Ron Drage - now there's a blast from the past.,
i'm wondering why believers remain members of this forum which is clearly hostile to believers.
as one member said, nonbelievers pounce on any semblance of belief like piranhas on prey.
as former jws we should have had our fill of judgmental know-it-alls, but here we are.
WMF, It's obvious you dislike people who have a belief, but Believer is not trying you to believe what she believes at all. It is in no way a recruitment drive. If you feel people are pressuring you to do something by what they are expressing then just don't read it. You are jumping to stupid conclusions without any hard evidence.
Believer, I welcome you here to this board to discuss anything JW related or belief in God. I am here to support you if you need it and so are many others.

I can just imagine you patting someones hand as you're talking to them.
It's unbearably patronising.
sometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.
No never. And I think anyone that came out with a statement like that would have been looked at very strangely.
well, thats it folks.. my identity on here has been rumbled and reported to the elders.
someone, somehow, has figured out that im a member of this site and - rather than speak to me - has promptly reported me to the elders.
i just feel sad for my daughter.
What will the JC be accusing you of?
I'm well out of touch now and I haven't read your old posts, but don't you have to actively join another religion or dispute the JW rulebook within your own cong for it to be a judicial matter?
i know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.
You're a strange one SBF.
Are you going try every cult and off the wall religion until you find one that suits your views (once you've decided what your views are, that is)?
If so you'd better get a move on as you've a fair few to get through.
i want to fit in but can't find my way around..
The navigation is ok, but the posting and quoting using a phone or tablet is a nightmare.
after 2 years on the forum, i've finally reached my 1,000th post!.
post #1,000 is dedicated to everyone who i have communicated with & the friends i've made here.
also, to simon who is the reason why we are all here in the first place - thank you for your hard work in making this site what it is.
Excellent. You should be able to see the secret forum section now.
it's become clear that very few from outside the religion are joining anymore.
if only the kids of the people that are already in are the one replacing the members as they die off and 50% let's say of the kids leave then how long can they realistically last before the downturn becomes obvious?.
I think you're right wrt developed countries where prospective members have access to the internet. But in developing countries I think the growth rate is quite high.
Unfortunately for the WTS, those new converts in developing countries don't have the resources to keep the contribution boxes topped up.
