My wife sees the lack of love and.. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

in the past few weeks, my wife has been seeing more and more the lack of love and caring from jws.

for example, she is organizing a "princess party" for our 4 year old daughter.

a couple of the parents have expressed reservations about this since they think princesses may be "too magical" even though we know they have been to disneyworld, and watch the disney channel.

Awww, that is just so ridiculous, esp if these people have been to Disneyland and watch the movies! These are small children, and I think even they could see the hypocrisy of their parents!

I really hope you can get enough kids to come so your little girl won't be disappointed. This bunch sounds like some judgemental a**holes, trying to look pious in front of each other. What onearth is magical about a princess party? Every little girl wants to be a princess.

You have been given some sound advice here, I can't add much except to say I hope after you are done with the cult book, you will find a way to get your wife and daughter out. Just go slowly so you don't scare her!

the influx of new posters made me wonder if the push to view jw.org is helping curious ones find this support site?.

please post whether you found jwn during an internet search or if someone told you about it.. i myself was directed here by a df'd family member once i shared my doubts with that person..

thinking of leaving

i am 46 and have been a jw for only 6 years.

i was doing ok until about a month ago.

we were having an international convention and i heard the brother that had to pick up 2 of the members of the governing body had to get a background check done on him and his wife.

justme, if you keep researching, you will be appalled by what you will find! Make a life for yourself outside of this sect, it's a wonderful world out here!

If you want to play by their rules, go ahead and DA yourself. Otherwise, simply go on your happy way, and let them do what they will. You literally have nothing to lose if you don't have family in and have no close associaltes there. I had no family in, my only child that was baptised was shunned when he went to university and kind of drifted away on his own, and our family is happy and doing well!

PEER PRESSURE!!! I gave in to Pioneering during August...I feel dirty...

ok, i'll admit it...i am weak.... as everyone knows, the pressure to "pioneer" during "the most momentous, awesome, amazing, centenary anniversay of jesus invisble kigdom rule, & distribute tracts about a dodgy website" campaign is very strong at the moment.... also, many will have read my threads about the extreme views and expectations in our cong for "all appointed men to pioneer" etc..... every elder and ms and their families have been announced as pioneering....i mean everyone's name was read out except mine..... i was not going to do it, as i do not believe anyone should be forced...(and of course its the last thing on earth i would rather do anyway since learning ttatt).

but i am not quite ready to make the break yet, so i realised that i would stand out more if i didnt put in a form to pioneer.

yes it would make me more conspicious, and make fading harder to do...it would bring more heat on me if i didnt pioneer.. so i gave in and submitted a form.... now, of course, i'm only going to make sure i'm seen at the key field service groups etc...but then go and do something more interesting...like count blades of grass..... ahh....i feel hypocritical to myself now......

You're doing what you have to do, and it sounds like you have a good plan. If this makes it easier for you to fly under the radar, than so be it.

Surreal experience last night.

recently a jw friend that my wife & i knew 3 years ago added me on facebook, after i accepted the request she invited me to a dinner that her and her husband are holding next month.. i imagined that she was unaware of our apostasy, so i declined the invitation on the basis of not wanting to ruin her dinner after the rest of her guests fled at our presence.. i'm never sure how old friends will react when i tell them that i'm no longer a jw.. usually their response is "..... permanent-silence......".

her response went something like this, " we are all out!

everyone that is coming is out we all look forward to seeing you guys so much" it turns out that there will be 6 people at the dinner all friends of ours from a congregation that we attended a few years back.. they have all left the organization recently.. pretty crazy experience..

Stagnant JW growth at international convention

so at the international convention 235 were baptized.

the attendance was 34k.

that's resents less than 1% its about .6%.

Shirley, I was a d2d convert, and the cog. I was in at the time had 3 more(women) who were also d2d converts. I knew of 1 other in another cong. But that was back in the mid 80's!

Do you think that was normal for the time, or were we just guillible housewives w children? I think today most people will research easily on the web before getting involved, and I know I personally today would show them the door after showing them how misguided their beleifs are!
