Brilliant!! Thanks Searcher. I remember one holiday several years ago seeing these birds at Loch Garten (not sure if it'll be exactly the same birds or another pair as it was a long time ago). They were magnificent. I just hope that they spread further across Scotland and it would be great to see them extending throughout England and Wales too.

Thanks for sharing your story DR. It made me think of the WT quote back in 1980/1 that anyone reading the bible on it's own without WT literature will revert back to the teachings of 'Christendom'. I think this is what happened to me too. Although I don't believe everything other churches teach, I believe they are far closer to the bible's teaching than the WT is! It's amazing what happens when the WT blinkers drop off isn't it?
I'm happy for you that you have been able to find a good life for yourself away from the WT clutches and I hope it continues for you.
I look forward to more of your insightful posts. Only thing wrong with them is that I wish you'd write lots more!

If she's genuine (and I believe anyone should be given the benefit of the doubt) she will probably have been scared off straight back into the arms of the 'love-bombers'.
Nice work...

by Infowarrior injust to let everyone know, a good channel on youtube that i have watched for many years has suddenly been terminated by youtube.
im not sure what video was the issue, his last video was on the occult theocracy book, and others.
i dont really know how his channel got in trouble, as i dont remember him having any videos that could be considered copyright infringments as they are all personal commentary.. interesting.

the green mile?
by sparrowdown injust wondering.. do you agree/disagree with capital punishment?.
are there any circumstances that would justify it?.
or is taking any human life unacceptable, regardless of the crime?.
-
tornapart
I think in certain cases capital punishment should be done. Here in the UK we don't have it anymore. There are some cases where the crime is so horrible that only a death sentence will help the victim's family feel that justice has been done.
I'm talking about crimes like a young man being hacked to death on the street in broad daylight. Child killers like the Moors murderers. Serial rapists/killers like Fred and Rosemary West. Anyone who abuses and kills their children they should be protecting. These are crimes where the killer shows no remorse and would be a danger if ever let loose again.

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

An increase in security at this summer's conventions??
by gingerbread inwe've heard from friends in two separate congregations in our city that convention security will be tight.. the brothers made announcements this week and reminded everyone to be sure to wear their name badges.
those that don't may be questioned and have their belongings searched.
the same will be happen to anyone arriving during the sessions.

The DC I'm going to, the non-JW staff of the auditorium are handling the security and they quite often search bags at other types of events there. So maybe it's not so far-fetched.

Contemplating a Major Life Change.
by Joe Grundy innever was a jw, but been here long enough to have made some friends and respect opinions.. retired in 2004, lived in cyprus 2005-2010. back here in wales since then.. just back from a holiday in france (most recent of many).
love the country, the lifestyle, can get by in the language.. just seen an advert for a country estate (british-owned) they want someone to live on site, do a bit of handyman stuff, etc., look after (mainly brit) holiday visitors in return for zero rent (only utitlties).
family would be abe to come and stay for free.

I love France too and have had many holidays there in lots of different places and quite often talk with hubby about maybe moving there after he retires. It is a huge temptation!
The plus sides... The pace of life is slower. More room to breathe. Roads are less congested. Weather is warmer. Food is better. People are friendlier. Lots of nature. House prices are cheaper.
The negative sides... Further away from family. Have to learn more French. Could get homesick. Not much else!
I say Go for it!!
