Crisis With Singles and Single Parents Looming?
by Pathofthorns inlikely we've all noticed that on the two major jw discussion forums the most active forums are the "singles or dating" forums.. it would appear that there is an increasingly large number of single parents appearing in the congregations these days for whatever reason.. i admire these ones for the effort they put forth to bring their children up taking on the role of both parents.
from many of their comments in the "singles " forums, it appears many find being a single parent an extreme liability in "the truth" as far as finding a mate goes.
i wonder if jw culture has something to do with how these ones are viewed as prospective marriage mates vs. the mentality in the "world".. as far the single people go, there appears to be almost a certain desperation to get married, further scaring off potential mates.

A New "Class"?
by Pathofthorns in(edited for waiting :).
in 1935 a "new class" was "discerned" when the great crowd was understood to have an earthly hope and survive armageddon.. could there be a new "class" of witnesses surfacing today?
the articles, such as those on blood, feature a "some" whose conscience permits this and that.

I don't like the drugs, but the drugs like me?
by Pathofthorns inis it just me, or is there an unusually high number of young ones in the truth smoking and doing drugs like ecstasy and dope?.
is it that these people are doing this out of rebellion or simply that they like to live in a fantasy world?.
i've talked to a number who seem to think that they will live a double life for a while, then come back in five years "because they know its the truth".

1975 recording "Stay Alive 'til '75"
by Pathofthorns inthis real audio recording of a district overseer in 1968 is one of the most disturbing things i came accross in my surfing.
it perfectly demonstrates the misleading nature of the "we never said 1975" statement.
while perhaps technically true, see if this talk doesn't make any loyal jw rethink what was really said about 1975.. download real audio if you don't already have it to listen to this talk.

Witnet closes its Door for good...
by Pathofthorns inkind of a sad but inevitable end to a special and unique place on the net.
free speech is severely limited in the truth, and the wide range of opinion and viewpoint between the old school and the new school i'm sure made operating such a site a challenge.. for me the most facinating thing was the way one could see thinking troubled witnesses contrasted with the ones who were the mindless products of an organization.
i think it was a valuable window into the worldwide picture of what is happening today in the religion.. the site was helpful to me, and for that it holds a special place with me.

Judicial Committee Meetings
by Pathofthorns ini saw this interesting post on h20.
most publishers are unaware how things really work many times in the back room of a kingdom hall.
sure there are lenient elders, many do try to show mercy.

The dream lives on...
by Pathofthorns inhere's to a canadian national hero, terry fox who died 20 years ago at the age of 23 of cancer.
we all look to something greater to save us in times of crisis.
the fact remains that everyone whose ever given something, can feel a little better that in the meantime there exists hope.. the real beauty in people lies not in anything external, nothing that we are born with, but lies in what we can do for someone else.. The "routine", The failure
by Pathofthorns inis it possible to do all that is required as a witness?
if one were to put down on paper all that is required to carry out, both with secular work and a good spiritual routine, is it even possible to do all that one is "supposed" to do?.
a basic routine includes:.

"Elder's Kids are the Worst?"
by Pathofthorns ini'm not sure if its my limited perspective, but i have heard the saying "elder's kids are the worst".. from my perspective, the saying appears to have much merrit.
if this is true, why would those who seemingly are raised in the "best possible environment" and who would in theory be raised in harmony with the society's direction (good "spiritual routine" , meetings, service, family study etc) turn out the worst?.
could it be that an elder's schedule is too busy for his family?
