Truly food for thought.
Things that make you say hmm...
so, now that some time has passed, i’d like some input/thoughts/analysis/etc.
on the jw construction situation in the last few years.. first, why did they discontinue the rbc arrangement and institute the ldc arrangement?
was it for more and/or better control?
Truly food for thought.

i am a big superhero fan and was looking forward to "the defenders".
the first two episodes are great but then ... liberalism happens.
one of the heroes (luke cage, big black guy) goes on this crazy rant, like a liberals wet dream of the bravehearth speech.
What else would a character like Luke Cage say to someone like Danny Rand and be authentically in character? What other perspective would Luke Cage have?
hello all,.
i heard from a friend that there was a big elder removal in my old city, temecula.
just rumor.
Wouldn't be the first time or last...

Marvel has tended to have a liberal bent...which is probably why I love it. The first black superhero...Black Panther, a blind superhero, a superhero in a wheelchair (Professor X who seems allegorical to Martin Luther King), ect, ect...
I supposed one could point to characters in Marvel with a more conservative bent, like Punisher. You might want to check that series on Netflix later this year.
most christian religions believe it will be a thousand-year period of peace.
jws, however, seem to believe in the resurrection and then life on paradise earth.
but do they believe in the millennium the way other christians do -- where the lion will lay down with the lamb [bzzzt...mandela effect correction] wolf will lay down with the lamb?
Cold Steel:
You mentioned the Book of Abraham, but now the source has been examined, it turned out to be the Egyptian book of the dead.
Speaking for myself, I'm not threatened by you or anyone speaking about their LDS beliefs. Of course, not to be mean, but I don't think in this information age, there is any danger of anyone converting after factchecking.
The internet has proven a challenge to both the JW and Mormon religions.

While evangelicals, fundamentalists, charismatics, and Adventists often believe in a literal 1000 years, that is not the viewpoint of Catholics, Orthodox and Mainline Protestants who are amillennialist.
The idea only appears in Revelation, which was a latecomer in being accepted in the Bible canon, so much of it was not taken literally until after the Reformation.

In regard JW beliefs: they teach that it is during this 1000 years that humanity will be restored to perfection. Nearly everyone who has ever died, perhaps as many as 20 billion people, will come back to life and be given a second change. The 1000 Years is Judgement Day. "New scrolls" will be open, the requirements which they will be judged by during the 1000 years.
Even though Revelation say that the dead are not brought to life until after the 1000 years, JWs teach that is not literal. They are "spiritually dead" until brought to perfection at the end of the 1000 years. Then they truly are alive in God's sight.
It's basically picking and choosing which parts to take literally and which to take symbolically.
born ins are in a unique position in that we never knew any other way of life.
no birthdays, christmas and overly superstitious family just seemed normal.
when my parents talked about their pre-jw life it seemed like they were talking about completely different people (actually, that's true, the cult had taken their real selves).. so i'd be interested in hearing how your parents were indoctrinated.. my dad.
My parents got it from their parents.
i know you'll be involuntarily disassociated if you unrepentantly accepted a blood transfusion; and i know you'll be disfellowshipped for apostasy if you openly disagreed with watchtower teaching.
what if you have done none of the above but simply respectfully refused to fill out the dpa without giving any reason for your refusal - so they can't accuse you of openly disagreeing with the no-blood doctrine and df you for apostasy.
they don't know why you're refusing and you're not giving them the reason - and you're being very respectful.. what can they do?.
I think a surprising percentage of JWs don't fill it out, because they are forgetful, or just confused by it.
I was fine up until the complex DPA document that came out after 2000, and certain parts of blood were a "conscience matter" and certain procedures were as well. I couldn't figure out what my "conscience" was telling me about say albumin or cell salvage.
I think many JWs were scratching their head as well. There were videos, brochures and so forth to inform our "conscience", but it was all too complex. I wanted them to give a definitive answer on what was okay and what was not.
everything really is up for grabs.. our sense of "absolutes" is always under fire.
we are taught to invest all of our belief in the very idea of something being true and absolute and constant.but--is that illusory?.
examine how this works: jesus was tortured and murdered by hanging him on a cross.
Now that we are free to make up our own minds, rather than take in bad information, we can be on the right side of history. We can be ahead of our time, rather than holding to regressive mindsets that belong to more unenlightened times.
greetings, cold and allergy sufferers:.
i'm in good health currently, but i do sneeze quite a bit, bringing down the rafters, as one sister exclaimed at the kh.
apart from that, no jw ever acknowledged my clearing out .
Like toasting and beards, I could never figure out the prohibition on this, but still, I complied.
