Watching the old Rockford files again since the 70s

the big issue is so many idiots mostly left over old far hippies and young idiots who do not know how to tie their own shoe laces are imo much bigger in size than in the 70s.

When it comes to "we must be ready to obey whether....it
by nowwhat? ini believe the the organization will tell it's members to sign over their mortgages and savings to the organization.
because of the impending fall of the financial institutions and the organization is the only place where it will be safe.
this has to be the only scenario possible because obviously they won't do a jonestown and where could 8 million flee to?

Are you thinking the Watchtower will say -
"It's not safe for Jehovah's loyal servants to meet in a place where the public is invited. We will be lovingly selling all Kingdom Halls and Assembly Halls. Proceeds will go to support the World Wide Work through our studio. That way brothers and sisters can safely meet in the privacy of their own homes to receive Jehovah's precious spiritual food at the right time through his Governing Body."

There is no heavenly calling, it is a wishful thinking of JWs
by Abraham1 inthen jesus said to his disciples: “truly i say to you that it will be difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of the heavens.
again i say to you, it is easier for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of god.” (mathew 19:23, 24, https://www.jw.org/en/library/bible/study-bible/books/matthew/19/) for jesus both “kingdom of heaven and kingdom of god” are interchangeable—they are one and the same.
when earth comes again under god’s rulership, earth becomes a “kingdom of heaven.” (mathew 5:3, 5) “those poor in spirit” are defined as those having no self-importance or egoless (mathew 16:24) and “the meek” too are egoless.

The "small flock" and the "great crowd" dogma is the first example of the "Overlapping Generations" concept created by the Watchtower. The Watchtower is and has always been adamant about 144,000 going to heaven. When their membership number began to swell well over that number and 1914 came and went the Watchtower panicked. They had to pull a rabbit out of their hat.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses subtly directing the brothers to have homes with attics?
by was a new boy init seems if you have an attic, you'll be safest there..
-
truth_b_known
I thought such actions as hiding your faith showed a lack of trust in Jehovah. Daniel prayed in public even though he knew he would be arrested and executed. Daniel was thrown into the lions den and an angel protected him for his faith. Bunkers and attic hiding are a bit of a Freudian slip for "This is a cult and nothing more."

Satans plans
by asp59 inif you are a believer.
what you think was the most important thing for satan to stop.
the preaching work or humans becoming kings and priest in heaven?.
-
truth_b_known
The best plan Satan could do is help a group of humans who claim to be God's only approved channel of communication on earth. Satan could assist them in their understanding of scripture. Satan's word to describe his assistance would be "New Light".

by smiddy3 inthese 3 religions with all of their sects profess to worship the one true god with their different names for him ,different doctrines , different interpretations along with their different books concerning him .. the bible , christianity has over a billion and more believers ,.
the talmud , the jewish faith believers ?.
the koran , islam has over a billion and more believers .. and this has been going on for thousands of years yet god has remained silent and never tried to set matters straight or to sort out any truth as to any of their claims.. why do you think this is so ?.

Divine truth is static. Belief is dynamic.
Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are religions with a personal god, a creator. The same personal god and creator. However, it seems every so many centuries the goal posts get moved. Once you had hundreds of laws to follow and animals sacrifices to make to atone for breaking those laws. Then you had to accept one man who is either God incarnate as a human or the heavenly son of that God as your savior and follow his teachings. Finally, you had to follow the teachings of the final prophet of that same god and all that matters is you pray when your supposed to. So, three formulas for salvation (happy eternal existence) that are all different and conflicting, but one god. So, do those who lived and died faithfully under one set of "truths" still get their reward when the rules changed?
As far as the "right to judge" one must look at the definition of the word "right" under this context -
Right, noun: a moral or legal entitlement to have or obtain something or to act in a certain way. A power or privilege that is recognized by law or tradition.
No one if given a right. Laws can only recognize a right. As such, can one give oneself a right?
Is it moral to create a conscious living organism to give it a choice to either be a slave and worship you or be destroyed or worse, be eternally tortured?

Is Bible prophecy now starting to come true regarding the prelude to the great tribulation?
by Disillusioned JW inis bible prophecy now starting to come true regarding a prelude to the great tribulation?.
full disclosure: i still don't believe in the bible's claims about the existence of the supernatural, even of jehovah god (i'm an atheist and a scientific/philosophical naturalist), but i am asking this question because recent events are starting to seem (to me) to fit well the description of some prophecies in the bible.
consider the following.. several hours ago (on 11-26-2021) as i was about to enter a local fred meyer store of my city (in suburb or small city in the metro area of a large city) a person i know told me that a moment earlier a person left the store in a hurry with a cart load up with unpaid merchandise (i think i was told it was groceries but i don't remember that for sure).

Things are not getting worse. In fact, they are getting better. That is not to say there aren't issues of concern that need to be addressed.
What has changed if that technology and culture have made it possible to be aware of all the things that are going on around the world almost instantaneously. As another poster replied, there have been more catastrophic events in mankind's history than what goes on now. Thanks to social media and 24 hour cable news networks who use the business model "red makes green" we are given an unhealthy diet of issues that are serious, but do not personally effect us or the area we live in. The result is a sense of "end of times," that just isn't true.

Is the preaching work Jesus taught being diluted during the pandemic?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe real preaching work:.
2 timothy 4:2. preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.. matthew 10:8.
“heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.

Diluted? The preaching work aka "door-to-door ministry" that was once the pride & joy of Jehovah's Witnesses is now an exercise in keeping the zombie walking. The photo and story by the Watchtower shared on its own website is proof of this.
Jesus taught his disciples and then sent them out to teach others. The key word here is "teach". That was the JW model.
The new model is -
- Listen to the Governing Body
- Obey the Governing Body
- Refer the general public to the Governing Boy
I was once a practicing Jehovah's Witness. That religion is no more. Therefor, I can never return.

QUESTION of the DAY (a brain teaser)
by Terry inquestion of the dayeach man chosen of the twelve jesus selected had been called disciples, or "students" (meaning "one who learns").
(latin discipulus; greek μαθητής mathētḗs; hebrew לִמּוּד limmûdh;jesus is stated in the bible to have sent out the twelve using a new description: apostles, "whom he also named apostles" (luke 6:13), first before his death "to the lost sheep of israel" (matthew 10), and after his (resurrection to spread the message of the good news to all nations (matthew 28:16-28:20).with the above firmly in mind, the question arises: “why aren’t the governing body called apostles?”.

Terry:
Good question! We know that according to the Gospel Judas was appointed an Apostle by Jesus. After Jesus death and ascension, the book of Acts states that remaining 11 Apostles "cast lots" to decided between 2 possible replacements for Judas. Matthias was appointed as Judas' replacement.
All Bishops in the Catholic Church can trace their succession back to the 12 Apostles of Act chapter 1. The concept of the "Governing Body" is new even to the Watchtower relatively speaking. The 8 members of the Governing Body cannot trace their lineage back to the 12 Apostles. They can only trace their lineage back a few decades when the whole concept was created.
