Ignorance of Watchtower doctrine among young JW's
by nicolaou ini've been having a conversation with a young jw on twitter and have, once again, come up against beliefs that do not match up with official watchtower doctrine.
if you like you can read the full thread here (you'll need to click on some comments to open it all up).. anyway the upshot is that this jw, and many like her, believe that only truly wicked people will be killed at armageddon - not innocent babies and children or anyone who "didn't know better" perhaps because they didn't get a witness.
it's as though they cannot accept the obvious injustice of jehovah's morality.. this jw teenager believes that all these non-jw's who survive armageddon will get their chance to prove their loyalty during the 1000 year reign of christ - again, not a watchtower teaching.. i don't really have a question to ask, this is just an observation.

Is The Person Who Helped You “Get Into The Truth” Still Around?
by minimus ini helped, unfortunately, many people to become baptized jws.
recently, over the last few years, i saw many of my students who were still “ in the truth “ lament that i was no longer associating or active in the faith.. i do feel bad that i did such a good job that most of them still are in the cult.. are your teachers still around or did they wise up and leave the lord’s organization?
?.

I have dear old mom & dad to thank for 30 years of my life wasted in the cult known as Jehovah's Witnesses. I've been free for about 15 years.

Physically In Mentally Out or PIMO
by new boy inthere are thousands of people there for sure.
i too was living that life for many years myself.. going through all the motions knowing things were just not right.
yet so afraid of the consequences of leaving the only world i knew.

I think there are two types of PIMO persons. There is the PIMO we see and talk about here quite often. These are the ones who have come to know the truth about the Truth. These are the ones who no longer believe the lunacy, but are not ready to have the ties cut between them and family or friends.
Then there is another kind of PIMO. I believe my sister's husband is an example. He was my best friend growing up through high school. We because Ministerial Servants at the same time. We were the elders' right hand. However, we both had a deep desire of having a career in public safety. He wanted to be a firefighter and I wanted to be a police officer.
For years now has been a full time paid firefighter and has only been doing the bare minimum to keep his "active" status in the organization. You can tell that his career has replaced Witness activities. He is even a tac medic for a police department's SWAT team. I'm really happy for him because we both accomplished what we wanted to do with our lives. The difference is that Witnesses have no problem with their members being a firefighter, but are hung up on being a police officer because of the whole gun thing.
Where things differ between he and I is, we both live our lives like we no longer believe in the teachings of Jehovah's Witnesses, but he still will tell you to your face it is "the Truth". It's down right hypocritical. Almost gaslighting.
He goes to meetings, I guess he goes out in field service occasionally, and that's it. He sports a gorgeous, massive handle bar mustache as some firefighters have the custom of doing. So big that there is no way any body of elder would ever let him have any extended "privileges". That's just it - he doesn't care.
I'm seeing this more and more out of my formal Witness associates. They look like a runner in baseball who is touching the side of second base with their left toe and saying "I'm safe. See! I'm on base," and then spits their chew on the field right in front of you.

Good strategy?
by Olig inso obviously the best way to leave properly is fading, that's a given i would have thought?.
however i'm in a situation where i'm not sure what to do... i've just left home, nobody bar my parents / gparents know my address.
at my parents request they asked if i would switch my cards over to the closer kingdom hall.

I moved to another state. Had my publisher card mailed to the new congregation secretary. I attended maybe 2 meetings. I had a visit or two from and elder w/ the circuit overseer to "encourage" me to attended the meeting on Sunday. That was it.
The new congregation was busting at the seams. I think there was 1 English and 2 Spanish congregations using the same Kingdom Hall. This is the fasted growing area in the United States. I am sure it was impossible for the elders to keep up with everything going on.
Don't rock the boat. If no one is reaching out to you, let it go and get on with your life.

My Bible Study Conductor's Letter to Me
by ohnightdivine inrecently, i wrote a sister, my bible study conductor, an email just telling her that i thought of her, and i thanked her for being a part of some milestones in my life many many years ago.
(for those who are reading my post for the first time, i was a very impressionable teenager at that time and i had the chance to live in their country for a while, spent much time with her, got to know her way of living, and essentially she became my life's mentor.
closer to me than family.

Like love, friendship is not conditional. If there are conditions set at the pretext of the forming of a relationship you are automatically exclude the nature of that relationship be one of friendship or love. With love and friendship, a difference of opinion cannot be a deal breaker.
By definition, faith is "something hoped for." Faith is belief and belief is an opinion. Could you imagine a couple in a romantic relationship ending their relationship simply because one party says vanilla is the best flavor of ice cream and the other says its chocolate? Could you imagine two people being best of friends, growing up together, go through school together, suddenly ending their friendship because one is a Dodgers fan and the other is a Yankees fan?
That's exactly what Jehovah's Witnesses teach. Spouse, child, sibling, best friend - all these close relationships are meaningless if you change your mind about your opinion that Jehovah's Witnesses are the one true religion and all their teachings are true. Jehovah's Witnesses have to be honest and accept the fact that cannot be a Witness and be in love with someone or have a friendship with someone.

2018 BRANCH ORGANIZATION Manuel Says The members of the Governing Body do not regard themselves as the leaders of Jehovah's people.
by Fabian inthanks to atlantis, this statement is mentioned on chapter 1 paragraph 1 in the middle.
but i like how the statement says members but the sentence right before has the governing body dudes in a collective whole like voltron here is the paragraph in whole.
1. governing body: the governing body of jehovah's witnesses is made up of brothers who are anointed servants of jehovah god.

If these guys were on the witness stand, under oath, in a trial and asked the question -
"Is the Governing Body the leaders of Jehovah's Witnesses?" and answered "No. Jehovah is the leader. We are merely the ones who take the lead in directing Jehovah's Witnesses as Jehovah's Holy Spirit directs us to."
These clowns would be brought up on charges of aggravated perjury.
It is a total political "double speak" answer. "We're not the leaders. Jehovah is the leader. He tells us what to tell you. If you disobey us you are disobeying Jehovah and therefor need to be shunned."

Introducing myself
by Leopold theseconed ini have been introduced to this site by my new friends that are helping me navigate through the reality of waking up and finding out that i have been lied to my whole life.
i grew up in the truth and have given over thirty years to this organization and the few years i wasn’t there my mind was certainly trapped.
the more i think about it i am really not that surprised there was a lot along the way that should have woken me up but it took till recently.

The winning mindset - Think it, say it out loud, and then do it.
The words we use actually mold our thoughts and actions. It's not "The Truth". It never was. It never will be.
Start by stopping the use of Witness lingo and phrases in your daily life. It makes the exit easier.

What Do You Think of Socialism?
by minimus indo you support socialism?
is it something that you would want in your country?.
-
truth_b_known
Neither Canada nor the Netherlands are socialist. They are capitalist societies that use all their tax money they would have had to spend on national defense on health care because the U.S. mostly funds NATO.

Any utopia will not work for one simple reason - humans are involved.
Human nature prevents any utopian society from ever existing. In short - people will always want more than what the need. Even worse - who decides what one person needs and does not need.
Socialism is also based on the negative emotion of envy. You cannot regulate people into prosperity. You can only legislate people into being equally poor.

I grew up in Oakdale, MN. Minnesota is a beautiful state. It has all four seasons; fall, winter, spring, and June.
I can tell you this - Minnesota has some of the highest taxes anywhere in the U.S.
Be sure to research state income tax and property taxes before pulling the trigger on an out-of-state move.
