- The quality of public speaking by the org has not improved in years.
- Speakers will use 100 words where 20 would do.
- they all stand like statues behind the mike having no movement.
- (at least when I was in) Never used power-point. I asked an elder about the use of PP and he said "Oh we cant use that" like it was banned or some such.
- Speakers seem to fear using varying voice inflection like highs/lows suitable pauses they all from memory just start--drone on-- and finish.
- some will scripture the audience to death as others will jehovah the audience to death.

Long prayers
by fulano indid you have one or two brother with way too long prayers in your congregation?
when i was a child we had a brother who would go on and on after the watchtower study for at least five minutes.
many elderly sisters just sat down and a lot were complaining after the long desired amen..

Longhairgal.
"had control issues and serious ego problems." spot on isn't that what the entire wts is about?
Slightly off topic. A a convention the foreign language session (Italian) had finished and they were then up for lunch. So they all spilled over into the other section of the stand all jabbering away like there was no-one else there. The speaker from that session just kept at it and no-one could hear a word out of three what he said.
It was farcical.

50 Years since the first moon landing
by eyeslice2 inin july of 1969, i was 16 years old and was pretty excited by the prospect that the us would shortly land a man on the moon.
however, i remember, vividly and older brother at the time confidently stating that man would never walk on the moon, quoting psalms 115 - "as for the heavens, they belong to jehovah.
but the earth he has given to the sons of man.

I believe the wts wrote to NASA saying much of the above about J not permitting moon landings. A copy of that letter would be worth seeing especially so since there has been an active space station for years now.

Jehovah's Witnesses as medical records employees, and Medical Privacy laws.
by Balaamsass2 inthis subject has been brought up before.
the governing body and watchtower have repeatedly encouraged jws to show loyalty to the organization to "keep the congregation clean" by reporting wrongdoing to the elders.. i know directly of two cases.
two jws working in the records department of our local hospital "outed" 3rd gens 1st husband to the local elders when he and his mistress sought medical treatment together for stds.

I agree fully.
If any jw outed any patient here they would have their arse stung well and proper. and, the word would be out they would NEVER get any such job again.

They all seemed to do it.
Final prayers at any convention were an exercise in suffering as the praye-er had his big moment in the sun and proceeded to sum up the entire program as if god needs reminding.
It ever reminded me of Jesus saying of the Pharisees who would go on and on so as to be noticed by men.

Beards
by HiddenPimo inso i started growing a beard 2 weeks ago and i am making some nice progress.
it has been noticed by many in my workplace and they give me great compliments.
my skin would get all bumpy from the constant shaving and i am so glad to be done with that form of cult control.. last year (i was pimo then) i worked in the video department at the regional convention.

I grew my beard as I got sick of shaving, the bloody neck, the bits i missed, and also a beard looks manly.

Jehovah will lovingly Erase the Memories of Your Dead love Ones From Your Mind!foyarse e
by The Bethelite ini know i would be miserable if i could remember all my dead relatives.
all my dead children, parents all my worldly family members and friends, yes and the billions of other people too.
all the people jehovah will be killing off in the years to come.

"And the former things will not be called to mind, Nor will they come up into the heart".
Think of those who went through any war. No they dont want to constantly remember the events but they must remain as part of the human experience especially if some arse-hole starts beating drums for another go then they can be pulled into line. Otherwise what is the point of the whole damn thing as no one will recall anything and can then go on to repeat it all over and over.
I like being able to treat my memories of the wt the same gone but not forgotten..

Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah
by Sour Grapes inmy pimi wife listens to a lot of the meetings on the phone with the speaker on.
when i am watching tv i hear the meetings in the background.
i just cringe with how a witless can't give a comment without having said jehovah at least two times.

same here. I was so often annoyed by these righteous ones who would 'jehovah' us to despair.
The same occurs in the various videos of people who have left the org and tell their story..
