The WT/JW very intentionally forces everyone away from the Trinity - which was the very intent of the New Testament. It was the only purpose that they picked and choose those particular writings to create the New Testament and settle the argument once and for all. Russell was so wrong.

Scripture fatigue

The WT/JW cherry picks versus of the Bible only. If you really pick out 30% of the Bible you can really claim it means what ever you want it to mean. Repetition is certainly KEY in pounding their belief home to control people, but it is a tool also to control people from reading the verses they DON'T want you reading. It's a foundation of brainwashing.
You could probably pick out certain versus for a brochure that claim only fish on Wednesdays, only in a tent outside, and women must serve it to men. An some stupid idea that no one gets to have birthdays.

My daughter is back for Thanksgiving from her first year away at college. She is so pumped to see immediate and extended family. Don't %@^#^#% it up with some ancient crap from the past - that is not what we are celebrating. That goes for the WT too!
I go huge on her birthday too.

I think you can tie every single day of the year to some pagan holiday or some such thing. I think in 2015 people need to get over the past. No one has fun and celebrates holidays based on evil things. Thanksgiving is a few days off of work, families get together, celebrate the harvest season and the end of a long work year in the fields. Modern adults and children are celebrating the harvest and a coming together of the pilgrims and Indians - that's all they know, that's all their intentions are, that is all they are celebrating, they are celebrating family time. Let them have it.
They are not celebrating any evil thing. Let it go.
I'm sure Feb 5 happens to fall on some dooms day reference to some pagan ritual 2000 years ago. So what? It's Billies birthday. So what? Stop penalizing him. Celebrating Billie's birthday is not worshiping the devil or some pagan rite because of the date.
It's Thanksgiving in the 20th century. Don't mess with it.
I don't believe the WT blacks out holidays because of stupid superstitions - they black out holidays to control the herd in control and keep them away from real people.

Did anyone tell the volunteers they were working in a toxic waste dump, from a metal fabrication and research/development factory? Metal production research programs? How toxic could that be?
I also read that the WT had a printing facility in the area - Wallkill/Warwick? But in the area. There is thread on here where the WT printing facility itself was illegally burying many many barrels of illegal toxic waste byproducts. Workers found it while digging new foundations for buildings. The volunteer/worker was certified in waste removal and went whistle-blower on the cover-up of ground-soaking WT toxic waste. The needed special permits to get the dug up barrels off the property.
Did anyone tell the volunteers? Working in toxic waste dumps?

Toxic waste site right? Hazardous chemicals that are dangerous enough to cost millions in clean up. Don't they have a lot of volunteers working in very hazardous conditions? Is that right? How many volunteers will sue the WT when they knowingly sent them to work there and they start coming down with illnesses? -

dont give them more power than they deserve.. here's why i say that, and i point this to those of you still in the congregation, still trying to decide what you want to do.. recently, our family had a little family reunion gathering of sorts, and we were in the company of some extended family that were either df or da, to varying degrees.
we made it very clear, to any and all in attendance, that we wanted to be respectful and kind, despite any previous perceptions about our "status".... and that our feelings on a lot of things had "softened", and "changed" over the last 2 years.. i am being purposefully slightly vague, but i think you get the point.

Rutherford was never ever a "Judge" but high-jacked the Watchtower, stole over 150 million (modern equivalent) from humans to build a mansion and travel the world, wrote fan letters sucking up to Hitler, adopted brainwashing techniques from the Hitler Youth Programs (notably to turn in relatives) - and still insisted everyone call him "Judge".
What could possibly go wrong with humans claiming to run the lives of other humans?

Kudos. Where do they get their power from? They are humans. They have NO edict from God. Everyone has just as much religious authority as they do.
A bit of confusion on my part - no one is allowed to have birthdays or special days or celebrations, because that would elevate one person above another. Don't they do that every day? They hate the Catholic Church for having a hierarchy that puts people above other people - don't they do the exact same thing? Who are "elders" or "GB" to sit in judgement of other humans? They have NEVER spoken to God - they have to authority to speak for God. If you ask me they pretty much F#@$T^$ED up any right to speak for God at least a dozen times claiming the end of the world on fixed dates. I hope they do get a chance to speak with God - he's pretty pissed at all of them and already has special seating picked out for them.
