  i've shared a bit about my experiences but i don't think i ever gone into much detail.

  i'm setting this down as an example of what growing up a witness can be like for any lurkers who have doubts or questions.

  I remember back when ET came out-at the height of my dubism-the brothers and sisters I went to the movies with insisted that a guy in it was a dub. I think he was an FBI agent that tried to stop the car when ET and Elliot tried to make their escape from the quarantined home. Anyone else ever hear that one?

  What is the WT view of donating to charity?

  i have been completely out of touch for over a decade, but i recall that the general sentiment was that charities are often corrupt or inefficient, and too often have some association with false religion..

  That's what I recall sonofapreacherman. Take all that money you would donate to charities or even your fellow brother or sister in need and send it to the Watch Tower c/o, blah, blah, blah, blah.

  well this really sucks

  you ever have one of those things that happen to you that just leaves you speechless.

  well the other day one of my best friends (someone i have known for years) told me that they might have cancer.

  they have a tumor in their leg that just changed size as well as a small lump in their arm.

  Hi Spice,

  I am sorry to hear about your friend. We have a man in our church who is only 40 and was just diagnosed with Lou Gehrigs disease in October. It is very sad and scary to see him deteriorating so fast-almost daily. I know I can't do anything to make the disease go away, so I do what I can-which is just listen to he and his wife, be there with arms to just hold them when they just plain don't want to talk. It is not easy-you want to do something -anything to make it better, but they seem to just want to be able to talk and vent. I think what you said was fine.

  I have also lost my Mom at the age of 48 to Ovarian Cancer. I am grateful that we spent her last few years just growing closer and doing things together that we might not have if she had just been suddenly taken away from me. It has taught me to try to live life for each moment and to dare to live out my dreams.

  Call them frequently, try to do the things you always do with them, so life feels somewhat normal. Just be yourself. From what I have observed about you on this forum, I feel you will be just the kind of friend your friend will need.

  i understand many of you are not coming to green bay, or you are coming to green bay and doing something besides being at the party that xenawarrior has worked so hard to arrange for us.

  i also know why and i must tell you i'm terribly disappointed.

  the only chance in months to see many of you, yet this has no meaning whatsoever.

  I have seen it demonstrated in my own community, church, & when I was overseas. On more than one occasion, I have benefitted from someone else's selflessness.

  just booked my holiday this year to kefallonia, a beautiful greek island in the med....and can't wait.
