I'm astounded by the UNDER-PATRIOTISM Displayed
by Yerusalyim inyep,.
it boggles my mind, so many here would rather believe saddam hussein than their own government.
so many here seem certain the bush administration is lying, but trust hussein to tell the truth.

My first birthday card from Grandma!
by zenpunk in....and i'm 32 years old.
it must have been sad for her - all those years i was raised a jw and she couldn't even send me a birthday card.
this summer i told her not only was i out for good - but i wasn't going to pander to the parents that now shun me by still not celebrating the holidays.

Making it "through" to the other side...
by Dawn ini've been away for some time - lots of work and family stuff keeping me busy.
i was reading through a lot of the posts this evening catching up and there are so many new people here!
so to all of you who are just now searching for an answer, to those that are scared of leaving, or scared that you've been df'd, or scared of armageddon - i want to let you know what it's like on the other side - when you've finally made it through all the fear, the guilt, the sorrow, and have healed.. there is a feeling of freedom now that i can not explain to anyone still in - in fact, even people who were not once jw's don't understand because they don't know what it was like to be in "chains".

I'll walk the fence and say both the U.S. and UK!
Here's another question, do American comedies translate very well in other languages? Example, I was in Vienna, Austria a couple of years ago and saw "The Nanny" and "Fresh Prince" in German. I wondered was Fran Drescher funny with a German accent? A big part of the comedy in her show is that nasal voice of hers!

What could it be.....
by SheilaM inafter leaving chat last night, i was in bed snuggled next to thunderrider thinking.
one of the group had been doing blurbs of kingdom songs, i don't remember any songs, or any scriptures or hardly any names of the books, i don't remember quotes from the stage or comments made by others.
have any of you ever felt this way?
-
Nikita
Yes, I feel this way too! I remember some pleasant times I had with friends, but songs that we sang and their books and their interpretation of scripture -that is all foggy! Someone mentioned the song "From House-to-House" in another thread and all of a sudden the melody came back to me! It was like a whole other place and time for me.
