  hey folks,

  i haven't posted for a loooong time, but had an interesting experience the other day.... my mom is still an active witness.

  i did the slow fade years ago.

  Hi Jewel.
  
  I think you should ask him to have a book study with you.
  
  But do not have the study with a WTS book, have it with Crisis of Concience.
  
  Have your own set of questions to be answered at the end of each chapter.
  
  Tell him if he can agree to do that and show you how the book is full of lies, you'll be more than happy to start attending meetings again.

  Do You Think That Jehovah's Witnesses Are Basically Good People?

  there's a lot of jw bashing here.

  we've all been affected by negative things because of the organization.

  but do you think that as a group, jehovah's witnesses are bad, or do you think that most of the witnesses that you know are inherently good people??

  I think you are right on with this statement.
  
  I think most JWs are good decent people.
  
  The problem is just what you said.
  
  The elders, per the WTS, take the goodness that people have and directs it any way they choose.
  Which is being at the meetings and selling magazines.
  
  So the average JW must decide to either be a good JW and do what the WTS says a good JW does or think for him/her self and be frowned upon for not towing the party line.
  
  So yes. They are stifled in a big way.

  Do You Think That You're A Little Bit Crazy???

  i spent the week with a few people, 2 jw's and their 2 non-believing husbands.

  a few different situations arose that suggested to me that some of these people are a little bit crazy.

  now, i'm not talking about certifiably crazy,i'm talking about just a little bit nuts.

  yeah i've decided to say goodbye folks.. i've had some interesting discussions on this forum, yet i will cease to operate as an active member as of now.

  i came to this conclusion via a number of reasons; .

  (a) many people on this board have had such a bad experience as a witness that they have decided to deviate so much from the bible and what it tells us.

  It's because there's a lot of negitivity being shown about them.
  
  Right scooby?
  
  There's good and bad in every religion.
  
  This just happens to be a message board filled with people that know a lot about the WTS and their religion.
  
  So of course there are going to be some negative things said about them.
  
  As the saying goes: The truth hurts.

  i was explaining why i can't and won't go back to the kh.

  i tried to explain my feelings as best i could without annoying him or making him feel upset.

Indeed, a man's enemies will be persons of his own household. He that has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and he that has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me.   The only thing I can say about the WTS using this scripture is phooey!!!!!
  
  Over and over and over again, the WTS tries to say that disagreeing with them is going against God.
  
  OK. Let's take part of the scripture above:
  "but whoever disowns me before men, I will also disown him before my Father who is in the heavens.
  
  
  I don't know about you, but to me, I believe Jesus is talking about Himself.
  NOT the WTS.
  
  It Doesn't say:
  "but whoever disowns the WTS before men, I will also disown him before my Father who is in the heavens.
  
  There is already an abundant amount of documented proof that proves beyond a doubt that the WTS does not and never has spoken for God.
  
  I know it's been said over and over again but the fact is, the WTS IS a cult.
  In fact, alot what they do goes against the teachings of Jesus.
  
  The proof is there for anyone that wishes to, can see it.
  
  Many cults say the same thing the WTS says.
  
  If you don't belong to us, God will destroy you.

  New England Apostafest

  last year on memorial day a group of about 14 east coast ex-jw's met together in providence ri.

  i had the pleasure of being able to have most of them back to our apartment for dessert, and thoroughly enjoyed meeting local people with a similar background.

  i was able to meet zev, somebody, red horse woman, scumrat, sister act, doc bob & his wife, as well as others whom i can't remember their online names.. this year, i would like to get another group together on memorial day again, and hopefully we'll get even more of a response this year.
