Anyone in NYC available as a marriage witness?
by thebrokenkite ini've recently openly joined this community and already have a huge favor to ask: if you are in the nyc area, would you be willing to be my marriage witness this wednesday morning?
all of my family and friends are either active dubs or abroad, while my "worldly" fiancée is a fl transplant and still new to the city.
we're happy to provide modest compensation.

Jehovah's Witnesses denial of what they are supposed to believe from Watchtower
by jambon1 inone of the most frustrating things.
when you confront jw's about what they believe they will often deny it.
such as "if your child is disfellowshipped then you can't have contact with them ever again".

They're actually embarrassed by their own beliefs, so much so that most will deny or water them down.
Yup, that described me when I was in the cult. It was only when I committed to understanding what I believed that I was able to grasp the goofiness of the religion.

The time remaining is forever. Time will never stop. We have no impact on time.

A "Simple Life": Who's Footing the Bill?
by thebrokenkite inafter much lurking and even sporadic posting under an alias account, i've decided to come out of the "apostate" shadows.
this month marks my 1-year disfellowshipping anniversary.
it's been a long, arduous journey, one that nearly took my life.

The fate of all of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Half banana ini have just posted elsewhere that there is no destiny for a jw other than to be deluded or disappointed, perhaps deluded or disillusioned would be a better expression.
there is no such thing as armageddon, no such thing as everlasting life, paradise is a mirage of wish fulfillment.. a friend of mine who is nominally a jw but who does not believe a word of it, told me about the dying words of another friend's father.
this man had been a lifelong stalwart jw and reared an exemplary jw dynasty but as he died he told his super zealous son that it (the jw religion) has got it all wrong.. ok, it's a social club for the majority of witnesses and an identity for those without self worth or clear goals in life, they will swallow the inconsistencies and biblical absurdities because it is in their community interests to conform.

The fate of all JWs, as is the fate of all - is death.
The only question is how do you spend the time between now and when we die. I think it is ridiculous to spend the limited time we have following a cult. But that is just me.

Funeral plan ?
by Chook into all you young and old alike what would you have as a farewell party from this earth , would you party with friends months before or would you go out quietly and rather have input into the wake.
i have heard of these duck hunters who put their ashes in shotgun shells.

Here is an interesting article and podcast about planning the perfect death.
If you knew you were going to die, how much control over this last phase of your live do you want to control?

Convention audio clips mentioning 1975
by Splash inthis is very topical so i thought i'd share a compilation document of 10 audio clips.. these are mostly from before 1975, taken from convention recordings at the time, stressing the importance of 1975 and getting the crowd excited in anticipation.. entire talks are embedded but it's been typed out what was said and the time point it occurs.. this document is 220mb, so be warned.. i hope you're not triggered by the drawn out assembly speech style because this is full of it.. if anyone ever tries to tell you that there was no mention of 1975, hopefully this will give you some evidence.. if anyone with the ability could turn this into a short, shareable video, that would be much more useable and shareable than this (no disrespect to the creator).. click here for the recordings.
it will be gone in one month..

You notice when he states that some went so far to "sell their homes and quit their jobs." He did not finish the sentence as to why they did these things: "...to pioneer."
He discounted the decisions of these brothers when in reality the people who sold their homes and quit their jobs were the true believers. There were considered super spiritual.
