Question for New Yorkers
by EdenOne inquick question because of a current writing project i have in hands .... if you live on staten island, what would be the assembly hall you would attend for a circuit assembly ?.
another question: in 2014 were there still circuit assemblies?
or had it been already narrowed down to special assembly days?.

Disassociation revealed what type of man my father really is.
by Paul Mooney ini began my exit from the jehovah’s witness organization about 5 years.
i was a 4th generation born-in, with all the baggage that comes with having the “spiritual heritage” attached to the group.
i was an elder/bethelite/pioneer/whatever other useless privilege there was, i had no family or friends outside of the organization… my entire life was that org.

Welcome Paul.
How very sad for your father. My best to you and your continued success as a free man.

Is disassociating worth the hassle?
by HereIgo ini have been out now for 6 years but lately i have been giving some thought to da.
i just kind of feel that chapter in my life is still open and for some reason i feel like da'ing might close that chapter but i'm not entirely sure.
im not df either, when i left i basically faded and disappeared.

Congregations have a short attention span and a high turnover. If you send a letter after 6 years chances are few would remember who you are and even fewer would care.
My suggestion is to write the letter, open a bottle of wine and light up the fireplace. Burn the letter and toast to your new found freedom.

Moving to Warwick Video incl. Morning Worship
by Listener ina new video is up about the commencement of moving to warwick.shawn bartlett tells the viewers that jehovah has said, through the governing body, ‘it’s time to move out of brooklyn.
‘ then helper robert lucciona says ‘ the governing body, these brothers, as soon as they see god’s direction, they just move, it doesn’t matter if it is long held, cherished ideas, this is the way it has to be done, as soon as they see jehovahs direction.
he just kept nudging imperfect humans, he knew where he wanted us and then we end up where we are supposed to be.

Is this video available anywhere? What is the means of communication from Jehovah? Is it direct or through an intermediary? Is is like the voice on Field of Dreams "build it and they will come"? That sounds outright creepy.

Does becoming (or remaining) one of Jehovah's Witnesses result in Poverty? Pew Research results differ from Watchtower claims.
by Balaamsass2 in"raised in the truth" during the 50s, 60s,and 70s i repeatedly read and heard from the platform how reading the magazines weekly "was the equivalent of a college education" and how many had turned their family economic situation around by being "trustworthy" and giving up expensive bad habits most "worldly people" had.
sounded good.. what is the reality?
how does avoiding higher education, and then spending up to 20 hours a week getting ready for, commuting, and then participating in meetings and field service affect family finances?.

Another factor to consider is the aging population of JWs. These are people who have no plans for retirement and are forced to rely on Social Security. This automatically puts this group into a poverty state.

Which Org 'directives' did you blatantly ignore
by Tallon ini remember that we were always encouraged to let everyone at work know that you were one of jw's and therefore would not participate in any of their functions, parties etc.. this i outrightly refused to do.
my reasoning was that i was employed and paid to do a job and therefore my religious beliefs were a personal matter and therefore had nothing to do with my work.
secondly i had to work with these people.

I ignored the directive related to no education. I continued to pursue an advanced degree even as an elder.
I never told anyone, if they found out I would simply say that I was taking some classes required by my employer - and then change the subject.

What if Jesus Christ was not put to death by the Romans but instead died a natural death?
by deegee inaccording to christianity, the death of jesus was a miscarriage of justice.
so then, what if there was no so-called miscarriage of justice so that jesus was not put to death by the romans but he instead died a natural death?
would christians still receive the forgiveness of their sins and their hoped for salvation?.

Give your scenario, since he was not condemned by Adamic sin, he should still be alive today.
