Since You Left The Organization Do You Celebrate National and Religious Holidays?

i know of people who were disciplined because they observed the fourth of july fireworks celebration.

and i know many people who celebrated thanksgiving but just didn’t call it that because they could get into trouble with the elders.. do you now celebrate birthdays and other holidays or is that something you really don’t care about?

We have a Christmas tree and a turkey for Thanksgiving.

I have no interest in Easter and am not emotionally vested in other holidays.

Female JW parking "attendants"

i was shocked recently to see on social media a couple pictures of jw sisters at a convention working as parking "attendants".

i put that title in quotation marks because they still don't get the official attendant badge like the male parking attendants do, only the reflective vest.

has anybody else heard of this .

I wish that in my attendant service days as a hormonally charged young JW that there would be a few females to direct traffic. I was born in the wrong generation.

Yearly Donations down? 2.4 billion for the 2015/16 financial year

so people keep saying watchtowsr is in a financial mess.

i think we can all accept that numbers are stagnating at best and going down year on year in the north / western countries and japan.. however the recent finance dept leeks confirmed that following the may 2015 broadcast requesting more donations, an extra 30 million was sent in for the months of july/august.

stephen lett stated that this figure equated to a 30% increase.. lloyd evans has used this figure to work out how much is donated on a yearly basis worldwide.

I am sure their risk management consultants have advised that they reserve a few hundreds of million $ for pending litigation. Never forget the impact of their legal issues. Again, the concern is that once they spend their accumulated capital the game is over.

How fast can money be spent? If you recall the story of pets.com, they burned through $100 million in less than 9 months. This is what happens when stupid is in charge.

I watched some of the Regional Assembly

i watched about 2 hours of the regional assembly and these are my thoughts.

the video's and songs did stir my good memories of when i was a jdub elder and very happy in the religion.

i can see how these two things would make it difficult to leave the borg because of the emotional buy-in.. now getting into the talks, the cults true colors show and i wonder how in the hell was i a part of that for over 40 years.

Thank you for posting this. Lloyd did a great job framing this issue.

Some have made the comment that they received a billion $ from the sale of the Brooklyn Heights property.

This is true, however, an organization needs to think about this investment capital from operating cash flow. I see the unspoken theme is that they have a major issue with operating cash.

Yes, they can spend capital funding on operations, but once that is gone, the party is over. I think the GB has discovered that it is very easy to spend money and much harder to collect money - and they are scared.

Just my random thoughts as a CPA and accounting professor...

one point that i have not seen discussed is "why" apostates are getting these videos.. are videos getting out because of a lack of internal controls, or are there more than a few disloyal insiders that are more than happy to pass on inside information.

or, is there a strategic intent of releasing leaked videos?.

I do not think these videos were hacked - which is an illegal activity.

Leaked is much more likely. Most, if not all "elders" letters are leaked from disgruntled elders throughout the world. Access to videos is fare more limited, as compared to elders' letters; Far fewer people have access. My conclusion is that there is a high level of dissatisfaction throughout the organization. Probably more than most of us realize.

If there is no intention of releasing these videos I would guess that the Wt is apoplectic about this gap in controls. The conclusion I get is that the Wt administration is highly dysfunctional. Understanding this dysfunction is as valuable as seeing the content of these videos.

Lots of religions are hated. Based on your reasoning, there are many religions that are Christ's friends.

In regards to the JWs, most people just don't give a proverbial "rat's ass" about this meaningless religion.
