  Are Beards becoming more acceptable due to decline in membership?

  i noticed a young brother with a beard being given more privelages within our hall.

  when he first grew his beard, he lost his privelages.

  but more and more recently he has been helping out a lot more.. the cobe is old school and a stickler for rules, but with the hall becoming more empty these days, and the need for young brothers, he seems to have relaxed on this particular watchtower/man made rule.

  so i recently moved back to my really really really small hometown in the south.

  it was the place that my parents moved to from a major city up north in the early 1970's.

  when we lived here times were very tough financially and i was always told that the reason we did not attend meetings was due to the fact that we had no car / no gas for the car / could not afford repairs for the years we were there.

  What? Does the text in the Wt state: "What are we gonna consider?" Can you clarify? This is beyond dumbing down. I can see the R&F say this, but it couldn't possibly be in the text.

  I have a general policy of not trying to prove to those embedded in the organization that they are living a lie.

  That being said, I have a very active presence on Facebook, Linkedin, and Twitter. Anyone will see that I have a happy and productive life and career after leaving the cult. I think it is important for those considering an exit strategy to see that a person can be successful after leaving.

  Given that Jesus, the creator of the universe, came to earth. He could have easily provided scientific guidance or clues that may not have been understood then, but future generations could use these clues as definitive proof of being the all-knowing creator.

  Poisonous chicken

  i just got off the phone with author barbara grizzuti harrison (visions of glory; italian days, etc.

  ) who is currently living in brooklyn and has serious health problems.

  she is now 67, but is very mentally alert and still has an excellent sense of humor!

  from facebook:just saw my jw mother after not seeing her for more than 2 years.

  when i do see her, it is brief, she never asks about my life, doesn't ask about my 4 children her grandchildren, doesn't ask about my grandchildren...her great grandchildren, she doesn't ask about my other 2 brothers that she is also alienated from, she doesn't ask about my brothers family.

  she doesn't talk about the jw/org either.

  i heard many times when i was a witness how much "learning the truth" helped people.

  many have been said to have become much better people.

  addictions were given up.

  I had to unlearn some very bad habits I acquired as a JW. They teach you not to think critically. Well, let me tell you, the ability to think critically takes a lot of practice. None of which, I had as a JW.
