I would remind you of something that Saint Satan posted on a similar thread. "The good in man is God in man showing through". Where do you think the urge in you to help others that can never repay you comes from?
it was five or six years ago that it dawned on me... .
... the realization of what the world would be like if enough people finally figured out that there was no god.... no virtual santa claus that was checking on them (us) 24/7 and waiting at our life's end with blissful rewards or everlasting penalties.
i figured that if even a handful of people figured that out as i had, we'd be in deep doo-doo.. now... i don't care much for religion.

The Wizard of Oz is one of my favorite stories. The Scarecrow was especially at home in Oz(WTBTS) because he didn't really need a brain since the GB did his thinking for him. He must have been smarter than the GB, however, since even he discovered that he needed a diploma. The tin man seemed to operate quite well without a heart and no doubt found himself regularly selected for Judicial Committees. His testimonial consisted of being appointed elder. This board is heavily populated by cowardly lions who discovered their courage and got out.
just wanted to drop in and say hello and let ya'll know i haven't fallen off the face of the earth.
big news, on november 1st i will be promoted to the rank of sergeant first class.
this is a pay raise of over $300.00 a month (just in time for christmas) praise god!
Well done Sergeant! Now, if you can keep from spending $600 additional per month, you'll be in great shape.

Why doubt the estimate? He probably did a white pages seach on the Yahoo site for the period.

no, indeed, i tell you, but rather division" --luke 12:51. pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock.

Interesting post. That could explain why the Roman Govenors regarded an assignment to Judea as the pits.

i was a jw for 4 years in the mid seventies and i never heard the term "spiritual mother".
i have been visiting some message boards and have seen the term come up a few times.
could someone please explain what it means?

If you should read any Unity Material or Religious Science material, you will see the term Father/Mother God. It is entirely appropriate to refer to God in the feminine gender when referring to the creative aspects of God.
okay, maybe i'm ignorant, but i can't stop thinking about this.. it's recorded in the bible that jehovah gave solomon great wisdom.
so why did he eventually turn away from jehovah and start serving the gods of his foreign born wives?it would seem to me that that increased wisdom from jehovah would make him more likely to continue to serve jehovah faithfully.. this also brings to mind the account of adam and eve and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.. i considered this from the angle that solomon used his free will and chose to oppose jehovah.
but is free will really "free" if you are punished with death for disobeying the creator???.
I agree that Solomon was not very wise. Why did he get such good press? It is very simple. The writers were sitting at his table and eating his food. The system was not unlike that which operated in Elizebethian England. Artists, writers, journalists, biographers had patrons. It was the only way they got to eat on a regular basis. If you want to please your patron, you say nice things about him. Otherwise, your income dries up. As Saint Satan has pointed out, Soloman laid such oppressive taxes on his people that it was perhaps the main cause for the division in Israel. The religion thing didn't help either, but the taxes probably were the main problem.
im breaking a long absence to ask a question during this evening of soul-searching in what i believe to be the best place to ask it.
i dont know how many people are still here who remember me well, so first a 'hi and miss you guys' to those who are.. im wondering about therapy.
i always thought i had a pretty good handle on my life despite the upheaval of leaving the witnesses.
Most of my family went into therapy related to issues of the kids leaving the JWs and their mother staying in. We were fortunate in that the therapist had a good deal of experience with JW issues. Much of the work was done in group sessions which is significantly less expensive than one on one. In large metropolitan areas, there may be a significant number of people who are dealing with the issues of leaving the JWs. Ask around and see if there is a specialist in your area dealing with these issues.
i was standing at the edge of a meadow , far from any others.
the flowers of spring had opened their peddles to reveal their colors.
the mountains in the distance were still showing their trace of the white winter snow.
Dragon-Nice piece of writing!
