I refused to believe that only Jehovah's witnesses would be spared at Armageddon.............or whatever the belief was. For having been in it, since I was 4 years old, it's amazing how much I've forgotten these past 10 years. That's not a bad thing.

One of our daughters in law has a sister, who just had a baby and they named him Boaz. I was hoping they would call him Bo, but NO, it's Boaz.
They aren't JW's.
We have a grandson named Gideon. He's a cutie, so I don't mind so much. They almost named him Shiloh!! I would have had to protest if they had decided on that one. They are churchy, not JW's.

I met Pat Garza several years ago, and she talked about her "experience" but it didn't have the clear ring of truth, if you get my drift.
She was quite unstable and drifted in and out of reality. I think she was delusional, having hallucinations or something of that sort.
I never gave her story any credibility.

A question for all you grilling pro's out there!
by restrangled inwhat is the best way to cook pork babyback ribs?.
they are expensive and i just bought 2 racks.
they were on the grill on low for about 2 hours (250 degrees) it started pouring rain so i had to bring them in to finish in the oven.. what is your favorite way to cook them, keeping them tender?.

We cook them covered in the oven, about 300 degrees to drain off the fat. Grill the last 20-30 minutes with sauce, indirect fire.

We had friends with two boys, Matthew and Mark. When she was pregnant the third time, if it was a girl, they were going to name her Shemaiah. Fortunately, it was a boy, Luke.
Dad had a JW patient with six sons. When she delivered a girl finally, they named it Hallelujah!! Can't say I blame them. Hallie, of course.
I remember some awful names though. Can't recall, at the moment. Must have blocked them out.

I think I would tend to just take the necessities, all my clothes, and precious mementos, things you can't live without. Buy the rest.

God is not Great
by hamsterbait inanybody seen this book,.
i was at a friends tonite, and read a bit on jihadist cretins in saudi arabia, who have banned george orwells "animal farm" because the farm ends up run by pigs.. godly honest - hearted moslems are also seeking to ban piglet, and charlottes web from schools.. apparently the eyes of innocent moslem babies cannot be defiled by reading about unclean animaux taking over the world, but.
they can go to market to shop with mommy and see starving thieves having their hand sawn off (but humanely given a novocaine shot in the arm so they can watch but not feel it).

I bought the book on Saturday.
The subtitle is "How Religion Poisons Everything"
I can't wait to get more into this book. He makes so much sense in just the little bit I've read.

What do you do when you know you child is getting thier feelings hurt?
by Heather inwe just recently moved and my oldest son (9) is adjusting well, so far.
there are lots of kids on the street and they are always outside playing soccer and basketball.
i've noticed that he is having trouble with a couple of the boys....they are all very close in age...9 10 and 11.

I would invite these three boys to your house for some kind of function, maybe your son could think of something here. Let them get to know the whole family and maybe they will be less likely to disc your son. Just get to know the boys and them get to know you. You might also watch them play and see how they all interact with each other.
Great idea. Being mean, and saying hurtful things back to them will only perpetuate the problem.

Do You Carry Anything Of Sentimental Value From Your Witness Days?

it is fair to say that many of us on this board rid ourselves of the watchtower societys.
propaganda publications.

I have a set of the old, old, old Studies in the Scriptures that my stepfather gave me. I won't part with them. Just sentimental because I loved him so much. He was a faithful JW, but a very kind, loving man, who never cut us off when we left the WTS.

What's your view of "The Secret"
by darth fader ina neighbor told me about the book, "the secret".
i read it and thoroughly enjoyed.
it places emphasis on the "universe" but can be understood to be a supreme being (god).

About 10 years ago, I went to a weekend seminar that taught basically the same thing as The Secret. A month later we had a follow up weekend seminar. The philosophies are brilliant, and I believe they work.
For me, it becomes a matter of remembering to apply the principles and do the work.
After going to this seminar, I had the epiphany that "this is why they say prayer works". Just a thought, but it struck home to me.
I've always been goal oriented and write my goals down and try to focus on them. I've had a dream board for years, where you paste photos and drawings of material things, words and qualities you want to acquire. Amazing how many dream boards I've had to make because I end up getting everything.
