Yet Another Memorial Post
by Oroborus21 inhey sounds like scooby snax had a good time.
oh and frankie, the meetings, especially this one are public so even if you are labled or known to be an "apostate" you are still permitted to go and won't be prosecuted for trespassing unless you tried to start a distubance and refused to leave when asked.
anyway back to topic, i am curious about any one out there who did go to the memorial.

"THEN THEY WILL KNOW" DAY - Will YOU Be There?
by Oroborus21 ini had hoped to have my website up by now but lots of stuff has come up and i am way behind so i wanted to go ahead an announce this.. this is your invitation to particate in the first "then they will know" day, an idea of mine that i hope will catch on and become an annual event of silent and perhaps not so silent protest against the (bad) policies, harm, lack of freedom, etc.of the organization.. the following q and a explains everything:.
what is "then they will know" day?.
on "then they will know"day all persons--reformers, opposers, and friends are encouraged to attend the services at the nearest local kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses for the purpose of conducting a peaceful protest and to let those active jehovah's witnesses know that we are not forgotten, that we are not hiding away in the dark corners of cyberspace, that we are unafraid, that we love them and are concerned about their well-being and that we are firm in our resolve to bring about change.. what is the objective?.

Mel Gibson's Passion
by Oroborus21 innot sure if this has been discussed already since i haven't been frequenting the board much.
but has anyone here seen an advance screening of mel gibson's (he is the producer not acting in it i believe) "passion" or has heard much about it.
it is a scripture-faithful telling of the gospel account of jesus' death.. i read an article a while back in the new yorker and caught snippets here and there.

all of the scriptures in the study article are spelled out in full.
1 timothy instead of 1 tim or 1 ti).

"Special Blue Envelopes"
by Oroborus21 inbeen reading some boe letters that mention "special blue envelopes" evidently used for judicial correspondence between the society and the congregations.. frankly, i had never even heard of them before.. any former elders out there want to describe them for me?
(yeah i know they are "special" and they are "blue" .
more importantly, are there any former bethelites that can describe the process or treatment of these at hq?.

Should "Apostates" Shudder?
by Oroborus21 ini was reviewing the study articles in the may 15, 2003 watchtower.. the first article: "christ speaks to the congregations" is rather hard hitting against (so-called) apostasy and sectarianism.
the conclusion of paragraph 6 says:.
"to maintain the purity of jehovah's worship and to protect the congregation, therefore, they (true christians) do not extend the hand of fellowship to unrepentant apostates.".

?'s 4 Farkel re: Beth Sarim
by Oroborus21 inhey farkel,.
i was reading one of your missives re: fred franz and you mentioned in it that ff knew that beth sarim was constructed "solely for rutherford's use" but that he concocted the "return of the princes" cover-story.. i was wondering about your sources for this.
you cited cofc but i wasn't sure and couldn't recall from my own reading of cofc if you were attributing the source to it.. is it possible that beth sarim (while obviously being useful to get rutherford out of the way) was constructed to house the ancient worthies?

Why are Canadians envious of Americans?
by Oroborus21 inthe whole discussion on "america" made me wonder the above.. by the way the war of 1812 wasn't against canadians but against the brits and won by americans after the battle of new orleans--which inspired one of the funniest lines in folk music, penned by jimmy driftwood and sung by the great johnny horton:.
..."we fired our cannon 'til the barrel melted down.. so we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.. we filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind.
and when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.".

Hodgepodge Ketchup just 2 cents
by Oroborus21 inyeah i know my title doesn't make any sense: .
i hate coming back to the site after a few days and seeing some threads i would have liked to respond to when the posters could provide feedback.
hope that doesn't make me an eogist-- so this is my "two cents" on a hodgepodge of different topics to "catch-up" .
