Me, My husband and kids have experienced the same thing. I don't think they have any biblical reason. I think that they are afraid. It is very disturbing when your entire belief system is questioned. I think we asked some thought provoking questions that they could not answer and rather than admit they may be wrong (that is to painful) they label you bad association and don't want anything to do with you. I don't hate them for it I just feel bad for them. I pray for them. I try to think of when I was in if someone came to me with the info that I have what would I have done. I'm not sure. Its easier when you find something out yourself than when someone points out something to you.

Did Jesus Die on a Cross or Stake
by Tommy Boy ini have been research the topic of how christ died and have read many articles (most interesting of them was at the url http://www.freeminds.org/doctrine/cross.htm) which indicate that he died on a cross, so i contacted the wt and they told me to look at vine's expository dictionary of new testament words, and this is what i found.
topic: cross, crucify
<a-1,noun,4716,stauros> .

The poles or stakes were already in the ground. It was the cross beam that the person carried and the were then nailed to it which was then nailed to the pole or stake that was in the ground already. I really don't think it is an important issue, I'm glad he died for me and that is that. I think it is interesting that JW's react to the cross like a vampire does. They reject it. I think even if it was pagan at one time, now it is a sign of Christianity. If you see a person wearing a cross it usuall makes you think oh, they are a Christian. So it is kind of an identifying mark, just as the star David represents a Jew.

The Holy Spirit IS a person?
by Brummie inwhat say yea?
active force or person ?
question only aimed at those who still believe in something.
-
lv4fer
Yeah I think you are right. The Holy Spirit is a person. The bible speak of it as something that has person-like qualities. You can't grieve a "force". I think it is a person of God. I know this sounds weird but God is not like you or me he is God so we really can't comprehend. It is a person but yet a part of God. I'm not making sense but I know what I mean do you?

who hated the memorial?
by Tyler_Durden inwas having a wee think to myself: this year is the first year in over a decade i won't be attending the jw memorial.
not that i'm too bothered, i remembered how much i hated it, how pointless, dull, & stupid i found it!!.
i could never understand the need for the great crowd to attend the annual meeting, it wasn't for us - & it certainly wasn't for our poor bible studies!

I never hated it but I always had a feeling of inner turmoil.
I felt like it was wrong not to partake; I understood the reasons they said and
I didn't feel like I was annointed or special, but I came from an Episcopalian background a
nd had always partaken holy communion; So last year when I went after I came home my husband
and kids partook at home.
I bought unleaven bread and wine we said prayer and partook as a family
That gave me great satisfaction after 16 years in the borg.
The only reason we went was to save face we had not completely left yet and
were attempting a slow fade. This year we will not be attending at all.

Officially Disassociated Tonight
by Princess insteve and i attended our very last meeting this evening.
i wrote a thread a few weeks ago about our elder visit and their decision to announce that we were disassociated.
they agreed to wait until we returned from our vacation so i could tell my grandma who still attends via phone link and so she wouldn't have to be alone in her devastation.

Congratulations! Perfect! I hope me and my husband if my turn comes we can do it as well. I do have a question. Why after 7 years do they decide to mess with you. If you weren't attending meetings anyway, why bother. So do they have to tell you if they are going to DA or DF you. They can't just make an annoucement without your knowing can they? I want to be there if they decide to DA or DF me.

Why would you want to continue to read that garbage? I'm puzzled, did you say pay for the subscription? Here in the US they are free or rather by donation.

Well said Yizuman! It's really not that difficult. If you find yourself doubting who Jesus Christ , there is a great book I just read it's called "A Case for Christ". I really enjoyed it. It was written by this guy a journalist who also majored in law, who didn't believe in Jesus, I believe he was an athiest and his wife became a Christian. He then started investigating for himself. It is a good read.

DA'd or DF'd -- why more being DA'd
by cyberguy infrom a number of posts on this board it appears that many are being da'd vs. df'd!
is it for legal reasons, from the watchtower's perspective?
anyway, when a person is da'd, they usually don't get an opportunity to defend their position.

Can they DA you without telling you. They sent us a letter wanting to meet with my husband and I saying they wanted to discuss some accuasation against us for apostasy. I sent them a letter that said we just wanted to be left alone and that we were not Apostates. In the letter I said if they made any statements publicly or privately to that effect we would sue them for slander. It has been around 6 weeks or so and we've heard nothing. I ran into someone about 2 weeks ago and they said Hi. She is one of the snooty elders wife type a real thinks hers doesn't smell type. If she could of shunned me she would have. I just want to know if they are going to announce it, I would love to be there for that meeting ( I don't attend anymore, but for that announcement I will suffer throught the meeting) So will I know if they are going to announce it. I don't have any contact with anyone anymore at the hall so I will I know if I've been DA or not. They better not DF me or I will be pissed. They have to have a meeting first with me don't they?
In answer to your question maybe the reason more are being DA instead of DF is because more people are leaving because they want to get out and they want to say I'm leaving you can't kick me out. Kind of like you can't fire me I quit! THat is why I wount let them DF me I would rather DA myself. I'm trying to avoid both because my husband's family and my father are still in, but they don't go to our old hall.

Were you an Elder or MS or Pioneer when you realized it wasn't the truth or a had you stepped down already, were you "weak" when you realized it? What made you start to question things? I'm thinking if we know this maybe we can help others who are in....to see the light.
