God in your brain....
by EntirelyPossible injust came across an interesting study.
during brain scans, when people were asked how they felt about something, the same part of the brain was active as when they were asked how god felt about something.
when asked how other people felt about something, however, a different part of the brain was at work.. specifically, the portion of the brain that was active when asking people how god felt about things was the portion of the brain associated with self-referential thinking.... people are literally making god up in their own image as they go.

i would request that no comments be made unless they are directly related to the challenge below.

Lest we forget the religious right's view of today's tragedy....
by EntirelyPossible ina. douchebag.. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/huckabee-schools-place-of-carnage-because-we-systematically.
former arkansas governor mike huckabee attributed the mass shooting at sandy hook elementary school in part to restrictions on school prayer and religious materials in the classroom.
"we ask why there is violence in our schools, but we have systematically removed god from our schools," huckabee said on fox news, discussing the murder spree that took the lives of 20 children and 6 adults in newtown, ct that morning.

Preppers and prepping.... thoughts?
by EntirelyPossible inwhat do you guys think of preppers?
i have been watching doomsday preppers on natgeo (it's just a trainwreck, i can't stop watching) and while those guys are a joke, i think have a few weeks worth of supplies and water on had is a good idea (tornadoes, hurricane, freak snow/ice storm, etc.).
however, prepping years worth of food, 5000 rounds of ammo per gun, building a fortified bunker.... what for?

Psychics fail test in controlled setting
by EntirelyPossible inhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-20145664.
the test by researchers at goldsmiths, university of london, tried to establish whether mediums could use psychic abilities to identify something about five unseen volunteers.. the results, carried out under test conditions, did not show evidence of any unexplained powers of insight.. but medium patricia putt said this experiment "doesn't prove a thing".. this halloween challenge was an attempt to investigate whether professional mediums could demonstrate their psychic powers in a controlled setting - by inviting them to deduce something about people they had never met and could not see or hear..

a former computer specialist at nasa's jet propulsion laboratory was not dismissed because he advocated his belief in intelligent design while at work, a superior court judge has tentatively ruled.. .
judge ernest hiroshige said thursday he is leaning in favor of jpl's argument that david coppedge instead was let go because he was combative and did not keep his skills sharp.. in his wrongful termination suit, coppedge claimed he was demoted in 2009, then let go for engaging his co-workers in conversations about intelligent design and for handing out dvds on the topic while at work.
