I wore low cut necklines and showed cleavage. Most of the sisters shunned me over it, especially the flat chested ones!

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

Ewe...you are in a tough spot. I always advise others to betrue to yourself. Live an authentic life. Tell your sweet brainwashed momma that you love her truly but cannot be a member of an organisation that is clearly not what it claims to be.
Best to you, dear

Any seniors looking for association?
by cultBgone inlife is tough when you've spent your best years in the borg...how do you reconnect when kids are grown and you're close to retirement age?.

It is difficult. I left three years ago and all my lifelong friends are now not allowed to talk to me. I go to movies and go mall walking, etc. it does get lonely but you can't go back to a cult, you know.

I just got to play householder!
by Laika ini was a little nervous and a bit dazed, i think i will do better next time.
he offered me the memorial invite, i told him i had jw family who would invite me and he got interested and wanted to find out more, so i told him i wasn't interested in the jw religion, he asked why and i said i find it too controlling.
he thought i was talking about moral rules so started on about how jehovah doesn't want to restrict us 'blah blah', so i pointed out that i meant they're not allowed to read certain materials which is wrong if it's as true as they are confident of.. he then went on about how satan uses false teaching to manipulate us and so we have to be careful of what we read.

by frankiespeakin inwhat can a person do who is stuck in the watchtower cult movement but don't want to be shunned or disfellowshipped but want to follow a course of passive resistants, like ghandi did to the brits to get them out of control over india?.

Troubling experience at 1 day assembly re: little jw child
by williamhconley injust had my 1day assembly this weekend.
an experience given by the bethel speaker was quite troubling and shows how jw's live in constant paranoia, anxiety and they isolate themselves from normal living.. a first grade class was having a fire drill.
everyone ( except one) lined up and stood outside away fron the classroom in the grass.

Who should you trust??? Don't ask a question you really don't want the answer to. I think you already know the correct answer, you may not be able to bring yourself to say it.

I am so sorry your grandmothers are so deluded that they can ignore their natural feelings of affection for their beloved granddaughter. You are a sweet girl, I know this or else you wouldn't give a damn what those two old ladies say and think about you.
I was raised from infancy as a JW. My mom didn't approve of young people getting baptised too young, so I was 17 when I got dunked.
I only had one question before I got baptised. It was "how could a religion that is only 100 years old (it was 1971 at the time), be the only true religion. I asked the pioneer sister who I trusted the most, how did JW's get started. She said they started as a small group of Bible students who got together and studied the Bible and discovered that none of the churches were really teaching the Bible. She said nothing more, nothing less.
Well, I trusted and respected her and got baptised. Three years ago, in 2010, a full 39 years later, I found out I was outright decieved and lied to. I was furious! If you have to lie to people to get them to join your religion then what does that say about you? When you tell people they cannot look at any information that is derogatory about your religion, what does that say about you? When you know that if you leave the religion, no one will talk to you or help you, it is emotional blackmail.
That about sums up how honorable Jehovah's visible earthly organisation is.
