Someone, maybe HBO, should make a mini series out of this. It would fit right in with Game of Thrones and their other programming.

Thanks to everyone on this forum!
by cedars intoday is my first anniversary as a jwn member.
it's hard to believe that only a year has passed since i joined, but i feel that's a testament to how much i have been welcomed and made to feel like part of the furniture.. i would very much like to take this opportunity to thank everyone on the forum for the immense help and assistance i have received, particularly in my first few weeks/months of posting.
it truly was a lifeline at a very distressing time for me.

....and a new wrinkle
by outsmartthesystem inso i was giving my daughter a hug at bed time last night.
she stands up at the foot of her bed and wraps her arms around my neck.
she then asks why i don't serve jehovah anymore.

I can only imagine how upsetting this experience must have been for you. Remember how they use the illustration about a child being like a tape recorder and taking everything in. She is being fully indoctrinated and I am so sorry to hear this. She is still young and with your loving help, she can overcome all this craziness that she has learned.
Let us know what happens next, please.

Advice needed please.
by tenene ini've been a lurker here for about a year and a half.
i am a baptised jw(born-in).. i was a publisher in good standing until about last december when i stopped putting in fs time as well as attending meetings and conventions including this year's memorial.. i no longer believe in the teachings of the watchtower society.. about 3 weeks ago an elder and a ms from my cong came to ny house uninvited and told me they were just checking on me and wanted to find why i haven't been to the meetings for such a long time.
they told me it was not an official visit, but sort of hinted to me that if i don't show up then i might be getting an official one soon.

My sister and I just stopped going cold turkey. We let our jw relatives know that we were stumbled by things we read in the publications and by things that others in the hall have done. No one has really bothered us. A couple of phone calls and we just told them we didn't want to discuss it. Luckily, our mother did not choose to shun us. Good luck and don't try to live a lie. It is not healthy.

What do you do when you find yourself flip flopping on doubting?
by marriedtoajw ini've never once ever considered that the jw's were right about anything, slight exaggeration but you know what i mean, until fairly recently.
i think i can see how people get attracted to the jw's.
i've posted here about my struggles with my wife, well things have gotten much worst as many of you seemed to indicate might happen.

We would all like to hear more about your situation and help if we can.
Your wife probably feels as I did, years ago, when I was married to my husband who was an elder who expressed apostate opinions to me in private.
She is encouraged by the org to stay married to you, but you don't want to be in her religion and you seem to be going in the opossing direction dispite all her efforts to convert you. She sees you as a threat to her children getting to live forever in paradise with her. She doesn't want you to drag them away from this wonderful picture, which she sincerely believes will and can happen.
She is now at her wits end trying to deal with the fact that it doesn't look like you are ever going to fulfill her wish of you becoming part of the org.
I am not optimistic about this marriage lasting unless she comes to her senses and realises she should be happy that she has a man who loves her and is a good, caring father to her children.
I sincerely hope that you can find a way to reach her. Keep trying in the most loving manner you can. Our thoughts are with you.

I have read most of these links and can not believe the dismissive attitude he has about the Watchtower Society's dishonesty and flub ups. He is living in his own little world.

need your advice again, please
by outsmartthesystem inso here's the latest in my pathetic saga.
i've tried to fly under the radar for the past year, but it isn't working so well.
i've learned not to engage my wife in debates but rather to ask questions.

Yknot gave some excellent advice. I would also give this issue time to breathe. Stop going to meetings and concentrate on writing your thesis.
