Feel the Goddamned Love
by AK - Jeff inmy mil of 38 years - who has not spoken to me for the 9 years since i left her cult - died on sunday.. today, as a favor to my sil who has spoken to me very rarely, for the same reasons, over the same period of time, i was moving some personal items to her home from the nursing home.
in this instance i guess it is ok to speak with me - if i have a strong back and a conveyance that aids her needs at the moment.. anyway, in the parking lot of the apartment complex where she lives, while we are moving in those items, guess who shows up?
five or six of my old 'best friends'.

i remember not being allowed to go to sleep in the meetings when i was tired.
not being allowed to do lots of things at school other kids could do.

I remember having to eat lunch by myself at school rather than form friends that would just have to be told "No" if I were invited to anything outside of school. My mom went inactive so our family was shunned by the Witnesses but on the other hand, we were not allowed to have "worldly friends." Being alone became the norm. When she decided to get back into the organisation, we were expected to immediately embrace it without question.
The constant judging and feeling like we didn't really belong anywhere was very, very painful. I often wondered what else about me wasn't normal.

My nephew is awake!
by redvip2000 inmy 17 year old nephew is visiting from florida and to my surprise, last night in conversation, he revealed that for the last 2 years, he has come to realize that the watchtower society " is a bunch of bs" and that he can see how people are brainwashed in the organization.. interestingly, he has come to realize this, without knowing any of the facts and scandals that we all know about - he simply can see things don't add up.
naturally our conversation progressed to discuss the inconsistencies in the org which he had no idea about, and the flood gates were opened.... he now wants to read the ray franz's books, and get as much information as possible.. he told me that the young people in the hall are beginning to speak to each other about " the issues", while keeping these conversations away from the parent's ears.
sadly, my sister still expects and somewhat forces the kid to attend the meetings, but i told him that he should be wise and patient in the process of stepping away from the cult, to avoid too much collateral damage.. i often feared that the kid would be pressured into being baptized in the cult, but he seems determined to make sure that will never happen.

What you said about talk among the young people is true. My young nephews say the same thing. No one really believes it and they are going along for the free ride for the moment and have plans to leave when they are able.
So happy to hear the young ones are smart and seeing this organisation for what it truly is - BS.

to date JWism has defined my life and i hate that TRUTH
by oompa inand i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.
but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .
how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?

I am in much the same boat. At 58 and divorced, I do not fit in with the so called "worldy people" but I can't go back to the JW's. It is very real and very depressing. Having made every life decision based on Armageddon coming any minute now, I am left in a very vulnerable position.
Hopefully, it will all work out and we will find our way. But we must stop hating and move forward, that is what I am beginning to believe.
