"What are Jehovah's Witnesses all about?"
"The truth" = Whatever the GB says today
No need to understand, just a need to constantly keep up and forget you ever believed otherwise
when i was a witness i knew what my beliefs were and could defend my views, even if it really was wrong.
i understood jw doctrines .
i could define what the faithful and discreet slave was.

youtuber "king of fader's" caught this unbelievable piece of cant from watchtower in thursday's life and ministry 'daily text'.. (based on 2 corinthians 1:24 " not that we lord it over your faith").
"jehovah has not given us authority to make personal decisions for others.
someone who makes needless rules is not protecting his brothers safety - he is trying to become the master of his brothers faith.
Of course, all of the rules of "the faithful and discreet slave" are needed...
That they can say this with a straight face shows how out of touch with reality they are.
how and when did the "understanding" of the progressive ("new light") understanding start?.
anybody knows?.
thanks!.
The WT uses "new light" to have it both ways.
On the one hand, it's used to posit that the organization leaders understand more now that anyone else did in the first 20 centuries C.E. -- the light has gotten brighter in the end times for those who are "in the truth."
On the other hand, it's used to excuse all its previous errors and to make the latest adjustments look like never-ending blessings and revelations from Jehovah to the faithful and discreet slave.
Thanks to this sleight of hand, the vast majority of JWs don't notice that until 2013 the faithful and discreet slave didn't know who the faithful and discreet slave was (Russell v. all the anointed as a group v. the GB) nor did they understand who the domestics were (the anointed as individuals v. the anointed plus all the other sheep) to whom they were supposed to be providing good spiritual food in due season.
Nor do they notice that it could all change tomorrow when the light gets brighter still and what used to be "the truth" turns into "old light" which needs to be dismissed and forgotten.
what is the wt doing these days if someone das but threatens to sue if the elders make an announcement that leads to shunning?.
i know the elders are supposed to notify the legal department, but what is the legal department telling them to do?.

we had a nice long talk and i brought up some things that make me think that this isn't the "truth" and she somewhat agreed with me.
i stuck with things i personally experienced or had knowledge of plus all the changes in recent years.
she agreed on a lot of the points but still believes in god and the bible.
Nice to hear such good news!
obviously at some point you stopped believing the witnesses had the truth or else you wouldn’t be here.
.
but for the most part, were you a true believer or were you typically a rebel or a doubter?

How can you believe everything when it keeps changing?
Actually, a lot of people seem to be able to believe the latest version of "the truth" and forget they ever believed otherwise.
Orwellian...
a point to consider is that the bible states that if a prophet says things that god as not given them to say, they are to shun that individual or persons.. deuteronomy 18:22 ...... if a prophet speaks in the name of the lord, and the thing does not come about and does not come true, the lord has not spoken that word.
the prophet has spoken it presumptuously.
do not be afraid of him.. another scripture to note or consider would be 1 john 4:1 ......... dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from god, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.. so to observe if someone is saying things wrongly or what they have not been instructed to say in the preaching work, one has to play close attention to the instructions handed out by jesus christ himself.. one of the admonishments handed out to his followers is that they should not set a time upon god's own sacred time and that not even he knows of the time.. yet the wts and its top leading men have set numerous times on their own accord, taught and preached them, which were acts of disobedient apostasy.
We're not prophets, just god's mouthpiece. You are required to treat us as if we're infallible. However we can and will be wrong but we will never admit to a specific mistake If we ever allude to a mistake in the past it will be you that takes the blame.
That's a great summary of the GB's method of operation, and JWs are required to be grateful for all the light they provide...
what is the most insensitive thing an overseer or elder has ever said and done to you?
i have had many insensitive things said to me by some elders, but for some reason one self-righteous elder was always on my case.
he didn't like the fact that i missed meetings, didn't like that i never went out in field service, that i didn't answer at the weekly meetings and he didn't like that i carried my books and magazines in my hands and not a service/book bag.
I once showed an elder copies of Watchtowers that contained false prophecies and other "old light."
He started screaming at me, "This is garbage! This is garbage!"
I said, "This was published by the Watchtower Society and offered door to door. When did it stop being the truth and turn into garbage?"
big news from israel, some previously undiscovered dead sea scrolls have been found with portions of the ot in greek.
it says the name of god is included in hebrew letters within the greek text.. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/16/world/middleeast/dead-sea-scrolls.html.
"the new fragments contain verses from zechariah 8:16-17, including part of the name of god written in ancient hebrew, and verses from nahum 1:5-6, both from the biblical book of the twelve minor prophets.".
Actually, this is an argument against the Watchtower position.
The Dead Sea scrolls were of the Old Testament.
If it was important to include the Hebrew Tetragrammaton in the Greek text, why didn't the New Testament writers do it as well?
