Why go back into something you know isn't true and has caused you harm?
The idea that there is nowhere else to go is part of the WT brainwashing.
made a big mistake of talking about being raised as a jehovah's witness to some old friends and family.
people have told me that i am still a jws even though i've never been baptized.
i'm in school for social services, dealing with student loan debt, and a lot of other debt.

here’s a link to a really cool letter that no witness can dispute.. jw letter.
That letter states what JWs believe and would almost be guaranteed to turn off everyone who receives it.
romans chapter 6 is about saying goodbye to the old personality, the old man in the king james version.
the old personality must die, he cannot be fixed.
the old personality is characterized by dominance of the flesh.
I may be wrong, but I think Fred Franz came up with that interpretation of Romans 6:7 as well as the NWT rendering that went with it.
seeing on another post here about former jws throwing away literature.
i am curious as to the various opinions on there value.. for me i have been inactive for 3 years almost 4. i still have alot of books and of course all their bibles ever produced (except a few from the 1800s.).
in my opinion i think there are four books the jws produced that are useful:.
Most of the old literature is useful for disproving the GB's claims about itself and the organization.
As ex-elder Leonard Chretien said, "The Watchtower's worst enemy is its own publications."
here is a screenshot from a video on jw.org.

jehovah's witnesses—faith in action, part 1: out of darkness.
What do they think was on those scrolls?
Splane's chart about overlapping generations?
horse racing lengths vary from just a couple of furlongs to several hundred miles, if you count the mongolian derby.
in britain, horse racing rules state that races should be over a minimum of five furlongs, while the longest race is over 4m2½f.. .
nascar races generally last anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours, depending on the length of the race, number of laps and track conditions.
The end is always in sight for them.
The problem is that the finish line keeps moving.
you couldn't make it up!
saw this wt quote on a friend's page.
it is from the awake magazine of 1993, march 22nd apparently.
How times have changed!
It wasn't that long ago the WT considered the internet to be Satan's and JWs were told to stay away from it.
Now, all many Witnesses can do when you ask them a question is refer you to jw dot org.
you couldn't make it up!
saw this wt quote on a friend's page.

How about the changed masthead of Awake?
Before Nov 8th 1995: "Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away."
Note: This was proclaimed -- not as the "present light" of fallible men -- but as "the Creator's promise."
After Nov. 8 1995, the reference to '1914 generation' was deleted: "Most
important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a
peaceful and secure world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless
system of things."
in a recent effort to entice me back to meetings, an elder friend gave me the example of his dad.. he said that his pioneer/elder/ex-missionary dad went through the anticipation and disappointment of 1975 and yet, he kept going faithfully for decades afterwards.
the obvious point was that, if his dad can deal with disappointment, then, surely a nobody like me could do the same in regards to the scrapping of the 1914 generation doctrine, and all the other changes.
his 'encouragement' was to tell me that it was only me that felt like this, everyone else is fine and have no problems with the changes.
Disappointment over 1975?
Was something expected to happen in 1975?
Seriously, investing years of your life and burning all your other bridges is a powerful motivator to keep going down the same path in the hopes that it really will lead to somewhere nice.
We probably all know people who don't really believe it any more but fear that if they left that would be even worse and that they would be totally alone.
i've just been introduced to this site by a pimo friend of mine.
this will be my first post on this website.
i need help, and he told me you guys are a very supportive community.. i'm a female in my mid twenties.
First, DON'T commit suicide.
If those thoughts recur, get professional help.
The USA has suicide hot lines you can call to talk with someone and get help. I don't know about other countries.
Second, your life has NOT been wasted. You've accomplished a lot and learned a lot.
Third, even if your whole life HAD been wasted so far, you're only in your mid-twenties and you have a college degree. You probably have 55 or more years ahead of you during which you will be free from WT control.
Fourth, cultivate non-JW friendships. Stop thinking of them as worldly. Use discernment in developing friendships. Focus on people who will build you up instead of tearing you down.
If you would like to discuss anything privately, feel free to PM me. I'll let you set the agenda. If you don't want to... no problem.
