They've published so much "new light" that the organization's doctrines wouldn't be recognizable to someone who saw the events of 1914.

Watchtower Propaganda Techniques
by Ding inis there a book (books, articles, etc.
) that systematically examines and exposes wt propaganda techniques?
if not, do you think such a book would be useful in helping people escape the borg or in recovering from their own indoctrination?.

I'm thinking about things like:
1. Constant repetition
2. Parroting back answers in Watchtower studies
3. Use of "evidently," "obviously," or "reasonably" in the literature as a substitute for evidence.
4. Use of loaded phrases such as "All Bible believing Christians know that..." or "If we are genuine lovers of Jehovah and his word, we will..."
5. Constant diatribes against other religions and "the world"
6. The use of punishment and rewards as motivators to keep JWs in line.

2034 - A Future History of Jehovah's Witnesses
by slimboyfat ini don't know what i am talking about... read this post at your peril.
back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.
those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

The problem the WT has is that -- because of the internet -- if they ever announce a new date, people will be altered to pin JWs down to it and to ask them what they'll do when it comes to nothing.
When that time comes, we need to be ready with a coordinated effort to make sure the GB doesn't wriggle off the hook with JWs like they have so many times before.
It will be a great time in which to document for JWs all of the WT's earlier false prophecies, waffling, and "new light."

Dropped my family off at the thought control assembly 🙄
by UnshackleTheChains inwell that's my family dropped off at the assembly for their mind control charge up.
.
from what my 2 sisters (non witnesses) in ireland said about my mother (pioneer) after her assembly, was that she seemed to more fanatical and that they couldn't change the subject as obsessed with the end etc.. i hope their mind control coercive talks don't have too much impact on my family.

Assemblies psych people up for a couple of months and then everything gets back to normal.
Sometimes assembly talks even wake people up, such as when they announce "new light" that contradicts what the WT has been teaching for years.

How can the New World Translation be the ''finest Bible translation'' without containing any errors?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inhere is a photo and article where the governing body claims that the new world bible translation committee and jehovah's ''spirit-begotten sons'' wrote the finest bible translation available to mankind.
the watchtower—study edition | february 2017.
“who really is the faithful and discreet slave?”.

The NWT is the "finest" in terms of supporting WT interpretations and dogma.
Even so, there are places where it doesn't do so well at that.
John 1:3 is an example: "All things came into existence through him, and apart from him not even one thing came into existence."
That certainly seems to support the conclusion that Jesus is God.
I don't know why they didn't add in a couple of "others" into this text (which aren't there in the Greek) like they did in Colossians 1:16-17 to avoid this "problem."
Colossians 1:16-17 (NWT): "because by means of him all other things were created in the heavens and on the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All other things have been created through him and for him. Also, he is before all other things, and by means of him all other things were made to exist..."
I thought sure they would make this change in John 1:3 in the 2013 NWT edition because a lot of critics have commented on it, but they didn't...

How old is old?
by joey jojo inhaving a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.
i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.
so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

134.
Now that generations overlap, so do years.

Jehovah's house for Sale?
by JohnTron72 inwhen i drive by the kingdom hall i grew up attending at but, was sold directly to a church, i get angry.
the elders who handled the sale didn't even remove the watchtower shaped bricks on each side of the sign near the street so, now they advertise for a baptist church.
how many times as i grew up i heard things like: you should not do work ( such as clean carpets for a church) you wouldn't want to work at a cigarette making plant or a facility that makes bombs for the military.

Remember the most important commandment of the WT religion: Never question anything the "faithful and discreet slave" says or does or you are engaging in "apostate thinking."
