Here's a link to a relevant talk entitled "We Wuz Robbed" by ex-JW, ex-elder Bob Gray.
Starting at 12:40, he discusses what WT doctrine robs the "other sheep" of.
maybe someone can help me here:when i got baptized at age 23, an elder dropped a bombshell on me.
he said that the new testament wasn't written for the great crowd (me).
he said that it only applies to the anointed, and "by extension" the nt applies to the great crowd.

question: what does the watchtower society's history of prophetic speculation prove?.
how would you respond to this answer provided by paul coom... yesterday on quora?.
"our organization has never been a prophetic speculator.
"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. The Great and Powerful Oz has spoken!"
i ran across a pretty early treatise.
we were all taught that "real" christianity was lost to history and was only restored once russell and then rutherford restored it so that the wt could be appointed as god's "mouthpiece".
but, aristides wrote to the emperor hadrian and gave a pretty good synopsis of core christian belief in 125 ad.
Nothing about calling God "Jehovah" and going door to door inviting people to come to God's organization for salvation?
are you sometimes dumbfounded at the direction the governing body takes?.
thousands of documents proving 607 bce is wrong, yet the gb sticks to the date, why?.
the generation that would not die, yet they continue by introducing an overlapping generation.. disfellowshipping at a time when everyone is leaving, not a good idea, yet they continue to disfellowship.. here is a video that addresses these questions.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbgeqhp9o9i.
In Crisis of Conscience, Ray Franz expressed the opinion that they really believe it -- victims of victims.
As the evidence grows against the WT positions, that becomes harder and harder to believe, but confirmation bias and the desire to be someone important are powerful blinders.
i really don’t know of many people who got into therapy because of their jw dealings but i would think that if someone remains depressed or severely affected by their past witness life, it’s not a bad idea to speak to someone to get you on the right path.
i think this site has been very therapeutic for many over the years..
I think the real challenge would be to find a therapist that understands how cults operate and how they affect a person's mind, will, and emotions.
i’ve noticed a change in family attitude recently, like there is just something extra on their mind.
i even had to call my brother to check if he was dying and too scared to tell me.
anyway, i saw a video last night my saying jws think we only have 12 months left before armageddon so thought maybe this is the reason for changes attitude.
When Armageddon doesn't come within 12 months, they will immediately forget that they thought it would.
most every state has a plan to get back to normalcy.
many countries also are ready to get their citizens on the road to recovery.. where does this leave the witnesses?
will they ever go back to house to house ministry?
Aren't they just rehashing Fred Franz as modified by the overlapping generation and the GB = FDS teachings?
i sent a list of statements about current wts teachings to a friend who is being carefully recruited by a seasoned witness.. hi em..... just a quick summary of what all “good” jehovah's witnesses believe...even though some of these things witnesses are not always willing to be transparent about.
this is your crash course.
i have quotations for every item listed if you want or need them.. witnesses believes that:.
If they had laid that out for me in my living room on their first visit the way you have done it here, my total "study" with them would have lasted less than 15 minutes.
i'm just thinking of examples of jw doublethink.. here's one - jws will tell a bible study or unbaptised publisher that there is no hierarchy within the org.
they typically remark on christendom's hierarchy but then say 'we are all brothers'.
but as a person gets further into the cult, jws will constantly stress the need to obey the governing body.. jw hierarchy .
They really believe they are not following men.
In reality, the whole JW religion is about following a small group of men without question.
