i've finally got round to joining the site (after over 2 years lurking!
i was born into jws, pioneered for 10 years (met my husband at pioneer school).
had health issues that saw me catapulted away from 'the centre of the cong' and wow what a different place that was!
Nice to meet you Peony! Welcome to the gang! Great that wt hasn't managed to screw up your marriage. Sounds like 'panic attacks' & wt go hand in hand. The only time in my life they happened, was when I joined up and when I was trying so hard to 'believe' it all again just before I woke up. Never had them again!!!!!

standing up for yourself,and deciding to follow your own path takes strength .
you have to be strong especially if you were raised in a way of life that dictated so much of who you were .
while being raised as a jehovah's witness i was taught to follow ,unquestionally follow .i was told to put others before myself ,serve,don't stand out ,don't be independent .
TM .......hi again> It is an amazing thing to recognize your own growth. It proves to me more & more just how much we were 'mind controlled' as jw's! A similar thing happened to me also after bumping in to die hard jw & actually experiencing his dark doomsday outlook. First things out of his mouth were how very terrible the world is, how awful people were .....more trouble bla bla bla. HonestlyI after I walked away from him I felt contaminated, almost went home & took a shower!!! UGH ,,,, what an outlook on life!
BUT ........I knew that 5 yrs ago I might have joined him in that sick view of life!

I have a feeling that ....... sooner than we think, the JW.org aka Watchtower...... will become a laughing stock! The witnesses will think they are being persecuted but the truth is, people will be disgusted with them. All their dirty laundry will be hung out for all to see!
Then .........you can bet your booty that you will be sooooooo glad you were smart enough to the hell get out!

after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.
as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.
i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

lostwun here, i joined 2 months ago but am now just finding the courage after doing more research to formally introduce myself to the board and embrace my new beginnings as an ex-jw.
i am a second-generation jw.
i grew up with parents who are well known and very respected in many circuits.
