Any of you folks from the awesome state of Colorado??
by SweetBabyCheezits inmy wife and i are thinking of moving our family to a better place in the us....away from jw family and out of the southern bible belt.
just curious how many of you live around co and, more specifically, near fort collins?
of course, we're open to any city that is less conservative and has awesome summer weather and outdoor activities.

Are Spade and Alice the same poster?
by SweetBabyCheezits ini've seen comments that suggest it but haven't really kept up with spade so i'm just curious if anyone has shown substantial reason to believe they're the same poster.. if so, that would make spade's comment from this thread i just ran across...... spade: it's charming how so many people here air there family's dirty laundry online.. ...particularly hypocritical in light of what she posted in this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/social/family/196218/1/my-letter-to-my-aunt.
.
so is spade just another troll or is it the latest reincarnation of a troll previously known as alice?.

How do you feel about the pledge of allegiance now?
by SweetBabyCheezits infor you us citizens (and those whose nations have a similar patriotic oath), how do you feel about your children saying the pledge in school if it's customary?.
my daughter is in 3rd grade and part of her school's morning routine includes the pledge.
when we stopped attending meetings a year ago, my wife and i explained to her that we don't agree with the jw "idolatry" classification so, naturally, she started joining her class in the pledge.. fast forward to the present: my wife and i are both non-theists who want to raise ethical, caring, tolerant children, but also children who aren't afraid to stand apart, especially when that stand isn't popular.

Great reply to "Apostates only tear down, they never build up!"
by SweetBabyCheezits ini'm sure many of you are familiar with that line.
it continues to be a card played frequently by the wt society.. is there any truth to it?
"apostates" do tend to tear down.

The Authorized Ruling on the God Debate
by SweetBabyCheezits inat aude's suggestion i'm starting this thread from [one of] the point[s] i digressed on the brodan meltdown thread.. [cyber]jesus: sbc, you speak like a man!
you are my here now.... i'd like the christians to note that a man who goes by the name of jesus just called me his hero.
(actually, he said "here" but i'm taking the liberty, regardless.

Redemption, Salvation, Atonement? The fly in the ointment
by SweetBabyCheezits ini posted this paine quote in the middle of another thread but thought it deserved its own.
this principle eluded me before reading the age of reason.
it's such a simple, basic concept of justice and yet so many christians miss it (as i did) or ignore it.. .

Conservative America and "The Meaning of the Flag-Draped Coffin"
by SweetBabyCheezits intoday i received a mass-fwd email from a fellow employee (down here in baptist country) entitled the meaning of the flag-draped coffin.
i'm pasting the intro to it below the full email can be enjoyed by clicking the link.. all americans should be given this lesson.
those who think that america is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought.

For Spade - a discussion of sociocentricity
by SweetBabyCheezits inthis is a continuation of a question i posed to spade - off topic - on this thread.. sbc: what are you getting out of posting on this forum?.
spade: it's entertaining..... for me; it's interesting to challenge opposing viewpoints.
if the ambiguity bothers you drink an alcoholic beverage.. spade, based on your comments above, i'd like to take a stab at what drives you.
