I always hated field circus. Being born-in I played the "shy" card as a kid, as a teenager I would make arrangements with my other friends and we would make a call (usually a classmate) which meant playing super mario bro's for 2 hours, then go to the arcade or movies. Come back to the group and say we had a very productive day! I even pioneered for over a year and continued the same rigamaroe... in fact it was easier.

As a JW, Did You Skip Houses You Knew Were Not Interested?
by mentallyfree31 ini have to confess: in my last 3 - 5 years in field circus, i basically only went to neighborhoods that were extrememly poor and thus i knew they would be favorable to the message.
i always had my own territory checked out, and even if an elder suggested i join another group in working another territory, i always had plenty of reasons why i needed to work mine.
(bible study or rv that i had to make at 11 am, etc...blah blah blah..lol).

What Did You Do With Your WWW Money When You Left?
by mentallyfree31 inquestion: when you awakened and discovered the truth about "da troof", what did you do with the www money in your service bag?.
i must confess: i took my apostate brother out to lunch and paid for it with my www stash.
i hadn't deposited my money in a long time, so there was about $30 in there.. .

I never asked for a donation and I never donated for any literature I picked up. I don't donate anything. I think the most the WBTS has got from me in my whole life (being a born-in) is $30. lol

I'm going to comment during those paragraphs and stress that this is a new change and that it will also be covered in this summer's DC during the last talk on Sunday. I'm also going to throw in the CO's comments during his visit on it and get everyone all worked up about it. This is going to be fun! ... in an evil sort of way... I'm bad.

The 144,000 Belief - What Will Happen To It?
by mentallyfree31 inwhat do you think will happen to the 144,000 belief as the years progress?
will the wts convert that to a "figurative" number and leave it open-ended?
or will they come up with another date and insist that anybody after that date should not partake?.
-
Soldier77
If they revise the 144k to a figurative #, that will open a whole new can of worms. They do that and you will see the # of partakers skyrocket the following year. It would be a major change that will send shockwaves throughout. I think a lot of people would get awakened by a change such as that.
1914, 114k (literal), living on a paradise earth forever, blood xfusion doctrine etc, any radical change to those would be epic. It would necessitate a reformation of the organization.
I also think (imo) that any reformation or radical change would see another exodus of large proportions. Again, just my 2 cents.

If you want a point and shoot, I would check out Olympus, Nikon Coolpix and Sony have some really good ones. My point and shoot is an Olympus (forget what model #) and it is water proof to 10' and is also shock proof. Great for snorkeling and dropping (lol). 10 megapixel too! I paid around $300.

Disfellowshipping - But You KNEW About It Before You Were Baptized!
by Georgiegirl instarted a new topic b/c i didn't want to threadjack another ongoing pointless debate.
:) (isn't it interesting how the apologists all come out around dc time?).
i have seen that statement made over and over again by jws about disfellowshipping.

GG: "Did you know that isolation is considered a violation of human rights? And yet, that is exactly what the WTBS does if you no longer believe - and when you are baptized, when you really truly believe you have "the truth" - learning differently and the consequences of learning differently are NOT explained and frankly, there is no way you can possibily anticipate that."
Well said, I never thought of that question and yet always thought that disfellowshipping is the worse possible way to get someone help. I should know, I've been DF'd twice and the only thing I learned was how to weasel my way around the elders and in the congregation. No love was shown, no direction was given, just tossed out and left to die. Nice org huh?

The God Delusion
by alice.in.wonderland inhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/the_god_delusion.
the god delusion is a 2006 bestselling non-fiction book by british biologist richard dawkins, professorial fellow of new college, oxford, and inaugural holder of the charles simonyi chair for the public understanding of science at the university of oxford.. .
in the god delusion, dawkins contends that a supernatural creator almost certainly does not exist and that belief in a personal god qualifies as a delusion, which he defines as a persistent false belief held in the face of strong contradictory evidence.

I'd like to see AIW respond to a post, any post, without copy and pasting "her answer". Because anyone can do that, we want to know personal answers to the questions being asked, not some canned response or someone elses opinion, which is what you are doing by copy and pasting.
So like OUTLAW stated, I call bullshit. If you really are a JW, you are sucked into the mind control big time. I hope you one day on your own terms see the light and the truth about "the Truth".

What country is this in and precisely what state/county/parish/hell just give us the address of the KH. I'm sure they'd love to know you're fellowshipping with apostates. For the record, you are a piss-poor JW apologist. You can't even answer Yknot's question. Hell, you can't answer any question about JW doctrine without copy and pasting it off something. That's called plagerism btw.

Why are they so anal about assembly badges?
by highdose inthey insist you must wear you and whats more it must be placed in clear view for everyone else to see.. i have been challenged before now " sister!
are you wearing your badge!?
" it made me wonder why?

I never wore my badge after the convention. In fact last couple of years I didn't wear a badge at all. My whole family, never wore the badges after the convention to dinner or anywhere for that matter. In fact, we all went to our hotel rooms, changed into civilian clothes and went incognito to dinner or whatever we did.
I've been to non-JW conventions where you wear a badge, but as someone already stated, wearing a badge showed you registered and paid for the convention and wearing it was a security/admission item. JW badges are like wearing a bullseye on the back waiting to be attacked!
