How about hot water cornbread? I haven't had that in a long time.

I googled hot water cornbread and found a recipe that calls for olive oil.

I had cornbread once, as a kid. My friend and I made it, and we ate half of it before we cooked it in the oven. I was so sick. Never wanted to try it again after that.

But you would think a poor poor darling might have learned her lesson about batters. Instead, my aunt still hands the beaters, bowl and spoon over to me when she makes a cake or cookies.
Me - a thirty-four year old woman, instead of her ten year old boys. (My boys don't like them.)
Fortunately, I have yet to get sick from cookie dough or cake mixes.

Back in the day, with no refrigeration, my mother used to let us lick her batter bowls clean.
I wonder why we didn't get sick?
