My story...well part of it anyway
by kenny2 init has occurred to me that ive been here long enough and have met many of you whose company i really appreciate.
i see people come in since i have been here and am inspired and impressed at the courage they have for giving their stories, their experiences and the freedoms they now have paid for by a cost that only a cult survivor can really appreciate.. so with that inspiration, here is my story.... i have very little memory of before i was 5. i do remember christmas morning one year to wake up to a ton of toys and that was cool.
i remember having my stomach pumped once because i got into some kerosene and thought id pour myself a glass.

"Stupid...Hateful..Evil.."?
by Englishman inat first glance, most people would say that there are lots of very good jws around.
ok, we reason, maybe they are a little misguided, but most of them mean well.
we particularly like to think that way about our friends and loved ones who are in the organisation, we dont want to regard them as being unkind and uncaring.

Thank scully,
I agree with you that "People of the Lie" is a good book to read. Just got done reading it. Also, "Road Less Traveled" is excellent, too. Pretty much anything Peck writes is good soul searching material.Englishman,
I love to read your post. Like Britboy, I look for yours first. But I must say that I really don't view jws as hateful or evil, except the ones making decisions for others. Most people by nature are followers and love to be spoon fed, not maliciously evil. This proves they are not mature in their thinking. Jws sure have missed the point of love that JC talked about. I just pity them and try to control what "damage" they may want to inflict on my family.

very alone..
by flower ini know that people have been in the same boat as i am and have felt the same but i still feel very alone tonight.
and very depressed.
i dont think some people understand even here.

Flower, being here can't solve your problems. Have you thought about going back to therapy? Especially getting help, medically, until you can get a good handle on what you are now believing? E-mail me your phone #, I'll be happy to talk with you. j2bf

Blood Or Shunning - Which Bugs You More?
by Englishman ini'm curious about this.
it would appear that active jw's who have reservations about the societies teachings, are usually doubtful about the prohibition of accepting a blood transfusion.
oddly, few seem to have any qualms about the shunning policy whilst they are still associating.
-
Joyzabel
Englishman,
I had to think about this one for awhile and I decided the blood issue is worse, imho, because once a life is lost, there is no getting that life back. Shunning, on the other hand, is very emotionally painful, but they are still living. j2bf

Simon & wiffie pooh (sorry forgot your name)
I have wanted to say thank you for serveral months. You two provide a wonderful service keeping this board up.
I have one question though, why are the topics, (general, main, personal experiences, etc) so big now that I have to scroll down half the page before I get to what's posted? Is it just my computer or is this change permanent? It takes alot of scrolling to get to the posts or even to see who is in chat. j2bf

AN INFAMOUS "GYN" VISIT
by Trotafox intrue story from a girl at work about her sister.
honest to god.. her sister was in a frantic rush one day trying to get out of the office to get to her yearly gynecologist exam on time.
she rushed home, didnt have time to take a shower so she just took a sink bath and sprayed on some fds spray (for all males out there, that is feminine deoderant spray).
