she meant well because she fears the word apostate as i once did, but she openly says to me my jc was lacking in holy spirit.. she doesn't have a clue what apostacy really is she just wants me not to mix with ones who have been known said "apostate things".

The True Church Cannot Be Seen

the true church is one not made by human hands it cannot be seen or touched nor is it made with bricks and mortar.

it is a living breathing entity made up of believers in messiah.

all earthly representations of it are counterfeit and a delusion to stop you from entering into the new spiritual covenant started after the destruction of jerusalem and the temple in 70ad.

sorry for that, but i just never feel like i've got something really interesting to say.

My wife is a "in the moment" kind of girl when it comes to everything. For many things I agree for the moment is all we can control. I just think it goes too far when she uses that outlook to justify going in credit card debt and not trying to save money for big purchases and emergencies. Sometimes I think she uses shopping and spending to compensate for something she feels she lacks in her personal life.

Like you, I had expectations that never materialized "on my timetable." I had to finally just learn to enjoy life as it is. We can try to look forward to some imagined perfect day and overlook all the good things we miss on this day doing so.

JW's DO celebrate Xmas!

i'm finding it really funny how many witnesses celebrate christmas without actually 'celebrating christmas'.

i'm just looking at facebook and seeing how many got together with family on christmas day or boxing day and had a big roast dinner, often with turkey, ate too much, drank too much, played some board games etc.

then a few days later i'm seeing photos from all their 'family present days' where the kids get a ton of gifts to open.

My wife would just say, "They are just getting together because it is the one day they have off, so why not take advantage."

Regarding the "yearly gift" thing, she just tries not to do it saying, "...it's like getting as close to the fire as possible..." kind of thing. She tries very hard to an extent but does not kmow other witnesses well enough to see their hypocrisy. Also she is obsessed with the idea of taking trips, a Jehovah's Witness trait that appears to be a mechanism to compensate for all those enforced rigid rules of their's.
