If someones life in the "world" is miserable it's because they left Jehovah and don't have his backing. If his life is good, it's because Satan is blinding and fooling them. They have an answer for everything.

My JW ex did not like this and very much disapproved the few times I got it done in the 7 years we were married.
It was one of the first things I did after leaving.

Tattoos/Piercings?
by Think About It ini feel like woody allen in the 1973 movie "the sleeper".
i leave in 1995, wake up 15 yrs later to see what has been going on in the jw religion and find out it is completely different from what i left.
i started a thread about beards, because i wanted to know how the modern day beard and goatee fad went over in the kh's.. now i'm curious about the tattoo, piercings and short or shaved hair look.

I love the taste! And there's nothing more relaxing for me than having a cup to enjoy in the mornings. Something comforting about it. I also love the energy it gives me before a run lol.

for those that married in the "truth"
by rockmehardplace inhow long did you date?
i was reading another post by exms and he mentioned three years.
in the area where i am at, three years would have never been accepted.

We dated 2 years from our first date to the date of our wedding - so about a year and a half before the proposal. Where I lived as well it was the general idea that you dated 6 months. I had so much pressure from very emotionally abusive parents - trying to manipulate me into believing that he didn't love me and because he hadn't proposed after 6 months that he was just using me. This led to to "rebel" and even though I knew he wasn't the right one, I still stayed with him and married him to "prove" them wrong and show them that he really did love me - even though I didn't love like I should have. Oh the mistakes we make...

Most people who are not JW's live with out moral restrain! All who have left the "Truth" regret it. June 15th WT
by life is to short inin the june 15th wt it says on page 9 i will just write it out as it is to hard and unbelievable to preface this.
so here it is.. "many who today are members of the christian congregation can tell you that before learning of and adopting jehovah's righteous standards, they lived without moral restrain.
yet, they were unsatisfied and unhappy.

Good Thread! On 1 of the 2 occasions that I've talked to my mother since I left she commented about hoping that I'd soon realize how unhappy I really was and come back. When I told her that I was the happiest I had been in years the phone went silent. When she finally did speak she was completely confused. The borg tells everyone how unhappy people are when they leave so for some of them to hear that no, I actually am happy and this was the best decision I've ever made - they honest to god just can't wrap their head around it.

How many of you were baptised at a young age?
by lepermessiah inone thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.

I was 13. I got baptised to make my emotionally and physically abusive mother happy. In hindsight I had no idea what I was doing, only that at the age of 13, I just wanted her to love me :(

When you fully believed it was the truth .
by Broken Promises indid you intend to leave your estate to the wts when you died?.
in several threads ive read, ppl make comments to the effect that theres no point leaving money to jws, because they would just leave the money to the wts anyway.. .
this is an assumption that i believe is a generalisation.. .

Never. We rarely donated any money as it was.
