Views on the Creation of the Universe
by simon17 ini was thinking the other day about the fascinating dichotomy of how the creation of the universe plays a role in the belief system of believers and non-believers.
it is the difference between a top-down vs. bottom-up view of reality.
in this post i'm mainly disucssing highly rational, scientific type believers and non-believers, open to fully exploring their belief system, of which i have talked to many.. to the non-believer, the creation event, the big bang, is the one utterly unexplainable event.

My Local Congregation are Idiots
by simon17 inhad my semi-annual jw visit and it was the local congregation giving the invitations to the upcoming dc.
the presentation was the standard 3 second "all the information is inside--goodbye" wastes which this work has become.. .
just one problem.... the congregation i guess didn't realize that they had to put on the time, date and address themselves!!!!

Eve: Failing the Single Test She Had
by simon17 inits amazing how things seemed logical when you heard them.
consider the case of eve.
we always here how truly terrible a sin (most likely the unforgivable sin) because she was perfect and given one command.

Notes from a Talk on Evolution
by simon17 inso i've been cleaning out my house of theocratic stuff, but its still fun to look through everything and see how life was.
i looked through my study copies of bookstudy books and can pick the year based on the bands, sports players, songs, etc that are scribbled in the margins out of boredom.
also i laughed at how bored i must have been.

First Ex-JW Experience with XMas Spirit
by simon17 inso obviously as a recently parting jw, i've never had the hastle, the annoyance or the joy of experiencing christmas.
this year in our office was the first time that we did a secret santa, so i would joke with a few of the people looking for advice because i had never really celebrated christmas.
it was kind of a fun running joke for the past month or two, as they laughed and pitied over my past with me, which they pried about and i explained.

Went back out in Field Service Today... Feedback?
by simon17 inafter three years i dusted off my bible put on my sunday suit and walked door-to-door in the glorious morning sun for 90 minutes solid (no breaks--old-school).
' i always felt some subtle compulsion to do this, i don't know why.
it was not for subterfuge or causing trouble.

very strange).
anyway, since i had no voice and little strength i just let them go through their presentation with a smile, took the mags, and that was it.

Non-Bible Believers: SAT style analysis of Bible Issues
by simon17 infor those that have dismissed the bible as god's word, but nonetheless sat through endless hours of jw analysis on certain major bible doctrines, i wanted to know, just based on reading comprehension, what you thought the bible was trying to say.
now that you don't believe it, you are the most objective persons to give critical analysis of what the words say.... .

Dawkins and Father George Coyne
by simon17 ini enjoy listening to the creation-v-evolution or is-there-a-god debates between believers and non-believers.
i find it very interesting in my exploratory stage in leaving the wt brain control.
so in this sense, i found it very fascinating and refreshing to listen to dawksin with father george coyne.
