  Why do elders not disfellowship inactive people?

  when i left the religion, i walked away and did not get df'ed or da myself.

  in doing so, my wife left the religion at the same time.

  in our life we have been very nonwitness in our life.

  Marilyn, when I started reading this thread I had a feeling I'd come across a post like yours.

  What kenpo said may be true in some cases and in some localities, but not in all. We had a couple cases a few years back when I served as an elder in which it almost got to the point where some people where hunted down for possible df'ing.

  Marilyn, I am very sorry for what happened in your case! Clearly, you are the victim of still another jw injustice. Stories like yours and many of the others that I read here sadden me greatly.

  Now I know what my problem is - I don't wear my wedding band often enough. Maybe if I start wearing that thing, I'll get some action.

  Kidding aside, I do have friendships with women and the boundaries are known and respected by all involved.

  I guess that's what PLH mentioned at the outset - as long as the boundaries are set and respected, things hopefully will not get out of hand.

  One thing I ask myself in the face of temptation - is it worth losing my marriage, my child, my home, and the respect of my friends and family for?

  I just heard about the strike settlement too.

  As far as the sport itself, well, it's hard for me to stay awake while I watch it. It's a nice game to watch on a lazy summer afternoon. Night games....I have to fight off sleep.

  Hi Dana! Yes, I am ready for college and pro football.

  I was watching Ohio State last week, and I hope to tune in if I can to Michigan's game tomorrow.

  The Gators will be interesting to watch this year, post-Spurrier. It'll be interesting to see if they can approach the success they enjoyed during his tenure.

  in an earlier topic, blondie made reference to heated discussions in congregations over kh builds.

  this raises a question.

  my father was and elder who was selected as the building coordinator for the new kh in our local area about 2-3 years ago.

  Puffs, I'm sorry about all that happened in the past and I support you in your decision not to take sides. I choose to do the same.

  There's a situation going on in my family now that involves some division and confrontation, and I too refuse to take sides. I will not elaborate, but let's just say that I can to some small degree to relate to what you have written.

  Andee, well said indeed and also you have my sympathy for what you have had to deal with.

  on august 29, 2001, i stumbled upon a web site like no other i have ever found in cyberspace, and i have been hooked ever since.

  the purpose of this thread is to say thank you to everybody for your help, advice, and support, for putting up w/ my craziness, and entertaining my fluff w/ your replies.

  when i first posted here, with that 'relatives and relationships' thread, i was overwhelmed by the responses i got from people who really cared and wanted to help me.

  i don't have any but i am going to tell on my lady boss, who is a 26 yr old lawyer of the hoity toity breed who was incidently born with golden slippers.

  this morning as i walked into the ladies room we passed each other as she was on her way out.

  we smiled and said hi, then next thing i see her pass her hand under a drip from the tap...and then hastily wipe her hand on the towel before rushing out.

  What gets me is the number of guys where I work who use the toilet/urinal without washing afterwards.

  Then there's the kids at the Hall who do the same, and brothers at assemblies who fail to wash their hands as well.

  Going Through A tough time

  everyone seems to be "normal" now.. while all this was going on ( and even now) i have been going through one of the most worse times.
