Do you believe in an annointed class?
by irondork inregarless of their identity - in fact, if they are really "discreet" their identity should probably remain unknown - do you believe the bible speaks of a spirit annointed class of folks, a limited number of humans that have been called to heaven to serve with jesus?.

how would would explain this:
Revelation 5:9, world wide english:
#9And the four living beings and the leaders sang a new song. The new song was: `You are able to take the book and to open its locks, because you were killed. You have set the people free and bought them for God with the cost of your blood. They are from every tribe, language, nation, and country.
10 You have made them into kings and priests for our God. They will rule on the earth.'
Does this scripture indicate at least two classes ? One class, made up of humans, who will rule, and others who will be subjects ?
Interestingly, the NWT says, ruling over the earth, what does the Greek word really indicate ?

A good comment at the KH about Abigail
by Quarterback intoday's wt was interesting.
the lesson spoke first about the role of husbands, and then wives.
then it tied in some bible examples in which abigail was mentioned.

anbody noticed the twist in Paragraph 3 ( I think) about 1. Timothy 5:8 ?
It was not clearly stated, but it was insinuated, that a husbands providing for the family would include spiritual provisions. Most understood it that way and also comments were given, that material provsions are not enough.
So the twist was, that a husband, who does not take lead in spiritual matters (eg family worship evening, field service, meetings etc) would also be worse than an unbeleiver.
BUt this was not, what the scripture is about !! The context shows, it was only refeering to material provisions. Btw, I comented to make this clear, hoping somebody not half asleep got it.....

How many will Jehovah KILL at armageddon?
by jean-luc picard inwell that depends on the world population.. .
if he had done it it 1914, he would only have killed 2 billion.. if he had done it in 1960, then he would have killed 3 billion.. if he had done it in 1975 ( so now we know why he didn't) he would only have had 4 billion to kill.. so is the question of when armaggedon will come, related to how many he wants to kill?.
interestingly this site ( but dont bother reading it all, its......well you'll see).

the chart does not depict the growth right, the distance between 1850 and 2000 (150 years) is almost equal to the distance from 1 to 1850. The curve should be much stepper...
regarding the population at the flood, 3 billion ? How could he (and his family) preahc to all and besides that built the arch ?
No wonder God killed them all, Noah did not have to to make return visits or conduct home bible studies....

A few notes on September 15, 2011 Watchtower, fresh off the presses!
by sd-7 inseptember 15th, 2011 watchtower, page 28, paragraph 13:.
"if a human overseer in god's organization provides you with instructions that seem extremely detailed, you might at times feel frustrated.
jehovah, however, is a perfect overseer who delegates generously and trusts his servants.

very good material for secret apostates, hehee,
thanks for posting it, we have here not even the August 15th version.
Then in paragraph 15: "Peter did not fully understand what Jesus said about eating His flesh and drinking His blood. But the apostle relied on God for spiritual enlightenment. When spiritual light on some matter gets brighter, do you try to understand the underlying Scriptural reasons for the adjustment? (Prov. 4:18) The first-century Beroeans received the word "with eagerness of mind, carefully examining the scriptures daily." (Acts 17:11)"
Thats the very porblem here. By encouraging to study, they only want you to understand and consequently be able to explain to others, whatever teaching they present. Its like saying: Here is the result of our research, now try to find ways to come to the same result. If you come to another result, dump your line of reasoning, because it must be faulty. In this way you never be able to do real research or real thinking. Its rather twisting your mind until it fits to their ideas.

Identifying who Jehovah is using
by jwfacts inthe governing body seems to have ramped up the number of comments in the watchtower in recent years that they are chosen by god and must be trusted as such.
how exactly has jehovah manifested that the gb are his representatives and must be followed.
tell me if i am missing something, but it seems in the bible, god provided dramatic signs to prove who his representatives were, yet these days there seems to be none.. .

JW would answer:
1) They are the only ones, fulfilling Matth 24:14, preaching the good news of the kingdom all over the world. Thats why, they are so obsessed with numbers regarding field service.
2) The love among themselves. Main point: No witness goes to war to kill anybody else or another witness.
3) spiritual food, just look at the wonderful magazins, books conventions etc...How can someone not see, that this is really the slave of Matth 24:45-47 ?

My Last Thread
by Maze inmy interest in posting here has deadened lately.
this will likely be my last thread.
initially i participated here because i was interested in sharpening my perception against opposing points of view.

sorry about that, even though I did not agree with most of your statemants, I feel sometimes the need for apologists, otherwise things may get too onesided. Only by arguments and counterarguments, the truth can slowly appear between the opposing positions.
Maze, one thing though. Even if someone agrees with most main doctrines of JW, he must see, there is something seriously wrong in the Org. Otherwise he would just blind his eyes and ignore the obvious.
all the best, and who knows, you may return one day...

June 2011 Watchtower & Poverty (public edition)
by FrankWTower ini have a part this week about the june awake & watchtower.
after reading some of the paragraphs in the watchtower, i have this opinion to share:.
i really wish the wt would stop trying to teach witnesses about their biased views of history and economic theory.

Advice needed about my study with a JW.
by Resistance is Futile ini've never been a jw, and i'm having a difficult time trying to understand the perspective of a born-in jw.
i want to ask questions that will cause this family member to began to think outside the box, but i don't want to trip off any apostate alarms and have him put his guard up.
i also don't want to waste time and energy asking questions that he can easily brush off and give the prepackaged watchtower answer without having to really think.

fact is, the average witness isnt aware of 1919,proof for them is John 13:35 and Matthew 24:14
love among themselves
and the preaching wordlwide.
For a witness, these arguments cannot be easily overthrown. The reasons are :
1) love among themselves: It comes down to personal opinions and experiences. If you meet a happy dub (even though the happiness might be only on the surface) he is brainwashed into appreciating the world-wide brotherhood. The shunning policy, as a proof the the conditional state of this love, will not count, since it is presented as a loving way, unless he personally experienced it and thought about it deeper (most don't)
2) preaching, while it is obvious, that others participate in preaching in one way or the other, dubs are convinced that only they are recognized by it. Which is true, just look at the media, often portraying witnesses either being on the street or knocking one someones door.
Therefore, unless you have the time and energy to discuss these matters deeply, I would take another road.
Lets say, for arguments sake, the love shown and the preaching are indeed Gods will. So, does this mean, if an org does Gods will, they become automatically Gods org ? Lets say, the catholic church, they, even witnesses must admit, in some areas do Gods will. they distribute Gods word, they entertain charities etc...does this make them Gods org ?
So in order to be Gods org, an organisation must do everything according to Gods will ? So then, why were there changes with JW, regarding pagan traditions for example (christmas until the 20's ) ? Or matters like voting, civil service, blood fractions, organ transplants ?
Even if JW today do everything according to God swill, who really can determine this ? Only God himself, right ? So, were is his approval shown ? What certificate did he give ? O r what clear sign of his approval, that can only be traced to divine origin ?
How does he correct his org, as he did in the past ? In israel he sent his prophets to set matter straight, whom does he send today, since even JW admit the org is not perfect and need correction ? How is this done ?
Finally the fact that an org does everythign according to Gods will does not mean, God has an organisation ! This is a different matter. For example, he used organisations in the past (Isreal) who did often not things according to Gods will, and still were his org.

Two possible reasons why some elders stay in the organization.
by Iamallcool indo you think some elders stay in the organization just because of prestige and getting horny at some judicial committee meetings?

some may, but the majority no.
Most stay because they really believe its the truth.
Some may be disillusioned, but have no real alternative. That can really suck at times. The deeper you're in, the harder you can get out.
For an elder, even to quit his responsibilities, this brings up several aspects:
1) questions why ? What reason can ge give with what consequences ? If he says it is stress related, what other elders will offer help to relieve stress, but at the same time pressure him to remain. Is it health, well, its no reason to quit. Is some bad conduct ? Well further investigations are being made. Worst of all, does he have doubts ? Is he spiritual weak or even borderline apostate ?
2) Rumors will start, regardless, since the reasons for quiting are not announced. Family will suffer to some extent. Especially if the elder was known as liberal and open minded, this might backfire too.
3) His position to help others, especially family, to think about certain matters are being diminished. He even might become "bad association" sooner as you can say "governing body"
All this would not matter, if he is single and has no family in the "truth", then he could pull out easily, perhaps loosing his social envrionment, but able to build up a new one. This might be also difficult, but its more worth it than loosing his family or marriage too.
However, it all comes down to ones personal situation anyway.
