i was talking to a baptised friend, and they dont like the idea of me being on here..i told them that ive mentioned it to an elder and that a few know im here,afterall im heeding the warning .
anyway, i explained to them that we are drawn out by our own desire,its whatever is in our heart....... hmmm did that come across ok???
so what im saying is yes negative thoughts or comments whatever we are warned against can harm us but its up to us what we listen to and if our heart is right we shall remain in gods love.
AE although i don't agree with things you say i think you are a genuinely kind and caring person but I am very very surprised that an elder you have spoken to has been ok about you going on here.
Maybe the elder is on here already and he's trying to help you get out.

yesterday, i walked up to the barber shop for a haircut.
that walk takes me by the local hall.
in front of the entrance were two attractive young ladies sitting behind a table loaded with watchtower propoganda.
One of my old congregations used to go to the local car boot sale (if you don't know what that is its kind of like a big garage sale with lots of sellers).
This was the cong that was going to have a stall at the local mela festival then had to pull out when bethel found it - they were told they may give the impression of interfaith.
we rarely go.
but, we went because hubby wanted to tell the elders we are switching halls.. at first, i thought to myself that i would go out back with her when she gets fussy.
but, my baby doesn't really get fussy a lot so i just took her out back and played with her as she laughed hysterically.
I totally wouldnt ever allow it to happen in a congregation im ever in.
AE unless you're one of the elders you wouldn't have any influence! Remember, women are second class citizens in the org.
When I was a child (in the 80s) the children all had to sit still and listen. I have noticed a relaxing of this in recent years though and a child making some noise wouldn't be taken out automatically. However, if it is preventing others from hearing then it is only good manners to take the child out the back.

Was anyone else confused by that website?
It stated at the beginning that it was run by JWs and was "safe" for witlesses but by the end it turned into an anti-JW rant!
Good points made at the end for any witlesses who bother to read the end.
Its been a long day so I may be imagining things tho!
we have friends who say that they have had some awful shepherdings,the things theyve been told in them were far from encouraging.. we havent ever had one so to be honest i cant comment...but would love to know if you had one?
were they regular and were they ever encouraging?

You've never had a sheperding call and still you defend the organisation. Things like that is more often than not what moves someone to leave. I know personally it was the lack of sheperding and caring for the congregation that made me realise the org is a waste of time.

In the 4 years from being baptised to leaving I got two. One when I'd just joined a new congregation and the second after I had missed loads of meetings (the beginning of the fade but I didn't realise it was that at the time.) Waste of time on both occassions.
Never got them when I lived at home. It appeared that although the elders liked to talk about sheperding the flock, love etc they lived by "do as I say not as I do". I think my family only had one every 10 years or so. It may have been longer.
as a jw i had an elder and 2 kids to feed.
because of the elder we always had to be at the hall early - not an easy thing between homework and dinner.. so meeting nights i had a set schedule of things to cook and serve that were easy to make, eat and clean up after.
my ex is italian so pasta was a staple in our house except on meeting nights - couldn't have red spaghetti sauce splattered on clothes.
Jookbeard, the highlight of a Thursday night was going to the local chip shop for chips and loads of Edinburgh brown sauce.
It made up for having to hang around at the hall as my dad was an elder at the time and always having to deal with things.
just found out that elders and spies are trolling face book and my space.
some elders in xxx congregation began trolling face book looking for wayward souls and using the links to other friends etc to get more info.
they waited until they had enough ammo on the 'friends' and then printed off some of the conversations being had....questioned the 'friends' who of course denied everything..and then they produced the printed copies to catch them in the lies.
I've had a few friend requests from JWs I knew from where I grew up. They are all still active so I refuse to add them as friends for this exact reason. I don't want anything incriminating to get back to anyone.
i am not a jehovah's witness, and until yesturday i never knew the beliefs of your congregation.
when i did finally read them, i was amazed to discover that most of what the lord has revealed to me as truth, through my prayers and studies, is found in your beliefs.
and out of all the christian denominations that exist, "most" of your beliefs are according to the word of god, unlike the other churches.. .

i live near sacramento, ca and earlier this week the local convention authority held a big deal press conference announcing a "deal" with jehovah's witnesses (see clip below).
based on comments to local news media on their websites, more than a few people are not too crazy about the idea..... i heard an interview on a local station where the head guy [of the convention authority] was defending (sounded very defensive) the city's deal with the dubs, by saying "well, they'll bring hotel dollars, food dollars, and they'll be visiting all of our local museums, evening life, and entertainment attractions.....so the monetary impact will be huge for us...".
specifically discouraged from doing any of those "extra" things..... hope those attractions aren't hiring more employees to handle the witness "crowds"........ also, during the interview, he said that the convention authority would be able to select the dates for the various conventions.
So much for "Jehovah willing we'll be here next year"!
