  hi, for over a year, i stopped attending meeting and field service.

  actually, passively disassociated from the congregation.

  but i did not stop reading and doing my own research.

  menrov, excellent topic. Basically, you are returning to your authentic self and it is wonderful.

  What I observed with my parents who became zealous was the opposite. They used to be kind and loving people and once baptized, became mean-spirited, holier-than-thou. This is what happens when you believe you are God's Chosen. Elevating oneself above everyone else is not a good thing.
  

  Conversely, when you realize you are no more special than anyone else, your authentic self returns and comes forward.

  This is happening now with my Father since he became ill with dementia. He no longer remembers much, if anything at all about the JWs. And everyone at the nursing home says he is a really nice guy. Yes, his authentic self has returned. Yay!

  aloha all,.

  at the close of the year, i reflect on what hasoccurred and what i hope to occur.

  despite the various speculations regarding the wealth or lack thereof of the cult that unfortunately impacts us all to various degrees, we can all see clearly a downward trend.

  witnesses hate college education, and why would you need one when you have our "spiritual food" the watchtower answering science questions.. watchtower 1973 july 15 p.7 questions from readers.. "when did dinosaurs go extinct?

  -they may have disappeared during the flood of noahs day.

  not all of them were of gigantic size.

  christmas means nothing to me.

  i have no abiding, cosy, childhood memories of it.. i don't buy presents or cards....i have to be reminded.. i feel a bit weird.

  people are celebrating and saying: 'i'm feeling christmassy.'.

  I wish people "Happy Yule". This is the pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice and that is real. And after all that's where Christmas was adopted/adapted from.

  I love the lights and decorations this time of year. We have people in our area that set the lights in rhythm with certain radio stations playing Christmas music. I will be at my friends' house for Christmas dinner. I will visit my Dad in the nursing home Christmas day. And I will give him a gift. He has no clue anymore.

  Are Magicians Spawns of Satan the Devil?

  i was perusing the internet not long ago and came upon this series of videos by a guy calling himself xendrius.

  it declares that many of today's best magicians are in league with the devil.

  his claims are based on his observation that the tricks would be impossible to do unless the magicians had made unholy pacts with the devil.. so what's the take of the wtbts?

  Magicians are masters of illusion... and nothing more. They are entertainers that use many innovative techniques to trick the human eye. Google it. Don't listen to religious zealots. They are the ones with the agenda.

  Wonderment said: By the same token, being a man, I must be borderline homosexual as I love kitchen gear, and like to spend hours going over the latest kitchen gadgets anywhere I find them. Also, used to have a girlfriend that loved persusing tools in the stores as much as I did. We both were "homosexuals" and we didn't know it.

  I do love the kitchen gadgets as well. If you and I both love the tool sets that are traditionally associated with both genders, does that make us bisexual?

  been catching up on some jw reading and found a gem in the november study wt in the first article, paragraph #11:.

  yet, you might look beyond the obvious and ask yourself, does my child enjoy the ministry or only the breaks?

  if you discern that the ministry could be more interesting or more rewarding for your children, set goals with them.

  To this day, the idea of Field Serve Us makes me cringe. Isn't it one of the least effective methods of reaching people? Just keep the R&F busy so they think they are doing God's work. Meanwhile, there are millions if not billions of people on this planet who have no idea who they are. And never will. This will always be the case. When I was a teenager back in the 1970s I did the math. The numbers didn't work out then. They still do not. Mathematically, 8 million JWs (?) cannot possibly witness to 8 billion people.

  Insanity... doing the same things over and over expecting different results.
